The most important thing you should look for in a J30 is service history. Buy a car that has as close a complete service history as possible. J30's that have NOT been maintained or missed servicing at major service intervals are a nightmare to keep on the road. The other thing to keep in mind is that you are purchasing an INFINITI. The J doesn't share a lot of common components with other Nissans. An aftermarket for parts is non existent, your sole parts supplier is Nissan OEM at dealer prices. Because you own an INFINITI you will pay a premium for parts. If you are a DIY person this a good car to do your own work on. The learning curve for certain things is steep (but that's why we're here to help you) If you aren't you need to find a competent mechanic in your area who has knowledge and experience with the Nissan 300zx/ Infiniti J30.
