Newbe Tech Questions

Greetings All...

I am the proud owner of a new '07 G35X in basic black. I must say I did my homework before I bought this car. I am a previous Audi A4 Quattro owner and really thought I would upgrade to a new Audi. I did also look at the BMW 330i as well. But when you cost out all the options as compared to what I upgrade to on the G, the Audi was $4000 more and the BMWix would have been $8500 more! Currently there isn't a BMW 330ix yet - coming out this summer.

Anyway, I have a few tech questions that I hope one of you can answer. First, where is the microphone physically located for the blue-tooth phone system? I believe it is very close the the steering column, but can't find it. Second, where is the temp sensor located for the outside temperature? Third, if the car is running, and the driver (with the key) leaves the car, can it be driven for any distance? I haven't experimented yet on this last one. Fourth, when you have the flash card in the slot, can you copy those files to your onboard hard drive? That is if you have the nav option of course.

A few creature features I would like to have seen in my G that aren't there: 1) Rain sensing wipers 2) User select high MPH warning 3) Auto locks when car begins to move 4) Equalizer for the Bose radio system 5) Auto dimming side mirrors (tied to rear-view mirror action) These are all features I know the BMW & Audi have.

That's about it for my post. I am glad to have found this site. There was a great Audi site that I used to frequent, so I knew there had to be one for us Infiniti owners.

I can't answer your questions as I have an 05 Coupe and I am not all that familiar with your model...but I have no doubt someone here can assist you! Nice wish list you added as well!

I'll add a couple...

My 03 Maxima Se (excellent car btw) had a heated steering wheel..would be nice for the Coupe does yours have it?

I drove an M35 that had Air Conditioned seats...That was da BOMB!! lol

AC seats! Damn I wish that option was available on the G. I'd pay big bucks for even simple ventilated seats.

I have an '06 coupe and I'm pretty sure some of these things don't change across years. But the outside temp sensor is located by the radiator on the '06. The car has a vehicle immobilizer system so if you take the key with you, someone who breaks in or tries a different key (or fob if you have the intelligent key) that didn't come with the car they can't drive it (the keys have a transponder that are registered to the security system). That's all i have for you.

You can find more detailed responses and the answers to your other questions in that book that comes with the car in a leather zip-up case called an owner's manual...it tells you about every feature you need to know about along with pictures to show you where things are like that microphone.

I just picked up my 07 G35S on Friday and am still learning it. I got all avail. options except active steer.

"where is the microphone physically located for the blue-tooth phone system" - From what I was told it is rear the map lights front headliner center

"is the temp sensor located for the outside temperature" - This is up front near the radiator

"when you have the flash card in the slot, can you copy those files to your onboard hard drive" - No, you cannot copy files from the compact flash. Here is what I have fiqured ouT - Your in dash CD player can play MP3 cds but you cannot copy MP3s to your hard drive. You cannot play MP3 cds from the CD changer in the trunk. I was frustrated to find out the "search " feature is disabled in the MusicBox once you get to about 3 MPH. You, however, can select "play Artist", for example, and then the tuning knob will let you scroll thru the various artists, etc...

as for:) Rain sensing wipers - I agree. My BMW E46 M3 has this and it is great!2) User select high MPH warning - I would like a resettable shift light!3) Auto locks when car begins to move - I agree and I guess a aftermarket security system could add this feature.4) Equalizer for the Bose radio system - I hadnt noticed that it wasnt there. Do you have the "Studio on wheels " unit?
