Hello! I just purchased my first Z32. I've wanted this car since I was kid! my Stepdad owned a Z31 and my best friend as a teen owned a Z32 and ive been hooked ever since. Long story short I won a big fight a couple weeks ago and I finally have the money and space to buy my first Z. I found a 1990 Z32 with a 146k. Every service receipt, clean carfax, garage kept, original red leather interior, new paint under warranty, Intake, headers and greddy exhaust and in incredible shape. I went and test drove it and bought it the next day.
So im mostly an old school VW guy. So I might be alittle lost here. Im looking forward to learning and diving into the 300zx.
From what I can tell it runs and drives pretty mint. The only issue id say is I believe its running a little rich. He has the receipt for a new fuel injector and the ecm getting done. I believe it was causing a misfire. Any tips for to solve this issue? or what I should look for/ replace now.

I forgot to add non turbo 2+2. No smoke or rough idle. I can smell gas and it seems like the mileage is worse than it should be.

If you smell raw gas, there are about 12 clamps on the fuel system that need to be tightened about every year. Just Google it and there is a guide available. Also there is a guide to checking the injectors with a multimeter, if you don't have one a good digital multimeter is a necessity when owning a z32. just remember to disconnect the battery when checking injectors there is always voltage going to them.

have someone turn the engine to ignition and back off without starting the car. this turns on the fuel pump and pressurises the fuel system. if there are any major leaks you will hear, smell, feel or see them when you stick your head under the bonnet. A smell of fuel under the bonnet right after fuel system work is normal. it often takes a little while for the seals to properly bed in and fuel injector o-rings normally leak a little right after they've been changed. I always have a smell of fuel for a few weeks.

a good diagnostic is to remove your coil packs and check the spark plugs. I had to work on a z32 that had every spark plug value in the rainbow. a six here, some fives there, a seven for some reason. two of the fives were burnt to hell and the pistons were black. fives in a turbo no less. still had a lot of grunt even though it was only firing on 4 cylinders.

enough of the trim, take some pictures of up her skirt. what is the ignition system like? check the coil pack values, spark tips and post some pictures.
