So i just got a 1986 300zx GL and the compass and the mpg gauges light up but dont work and also the same thing with the thermostat. It is all digital stuff. I have checked all of the fuses in fuse panel and none are blown. I dont know if there is any internal fuses...any suggestions would be nice. Also due to insurance costs i decided to not buy the turbo charged nodel and throw in an aftermarket turbo kit anyone know where i can get one???

There are no turbo kits. You piece the systems together via e-bay and classifieds and junkyards.

And how much difference would a turbo model have been? Mine was $25 every 6 months between my two different 84s with all the same coverages/mileages/etc.

also, if you have an 86 with the digital stuff, you have a GLL.

Well it was gonna be another 60 per month and they were identical only the one i got is red which apparently makes it more expensive. Does anyone know why these compass and mpg gauges light up but dont do what they are supposed to?? and also the thermostat isnt getting any power

I would say that it might be time to hunt around the different insurance companies to get comparisons. Progressive is nice for estimates, but actually calling some of the other companies can get you different rates.

Dash repairs:http://z31.com/repairs/dash.shtml

If that's too complicated for you (it is for most people), search the internet for "wild bill 300ZX dash".
