Hows it going was looking for some info on the web and stumbled across this sight. I just recently got a 82 720 it needs a lot of work.Its mechanically fine the floor is rusted out in the cab will patch that up no prob. question is the independent front suspension is shot and has to go I was thinking about swapping it over to pre 85 toyota axles then lifting it. prob. is I have to play with a low budget (4 kids) When I found the datsun the guy also had a 46 willies its rusted bad frame and body are gone does any one know if the solid axles from the willies will fit under the datsun I can fabricate new saddles and hangers. or should I part/scrap the willies and just go for toyota axle's? I don't know much about datsuns though do they have any solid front axle models or a company that makes a lift kit for the ifs. I can't seem to find any. All help appreciated thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert on Datsun 4x4's, but several of our people here are... I'll make sure one of them pops in.

I'd guess that the Toyota stuff, maybe from the 80's, would be the smartest choice. Could be tough finding wear items for the ol' Willys axles (wheel bearings, seals, brake drums)... plus, I'm sure weight would be a concern as well.

good point on the wear parts I didn't think of that. If I could find a lift kit for it I would just put that on and redo the front suspension. Body is in to rough of shape to get inspected so I figure I might as well make it a trail rig only paid 100us for it.

Was going to swap the willies axles it was sitting right beside my datsun in the barn I pop started it with the datsun today and it fired up frame is still rusted out but think we are going to Bary it in the mud-hole this week end then pull some parts will get pics if we do it.
