Hey guys, I just joined up. I got me a 97 200sx 5 speed base model. Its completely stock and rolling on 13's!! Nice huh? Anyway, I had some rims, intake and exhaust planned until I found that the radiator core support was rusting out. So, there goes my mod money. Anyways just saying hey!

I went to the local body shop this morning to get an estimate. They quoted me a price of $380 to replace my radiator core support with a brand new one! I thought that was a decent price, so I went ahead with it. They should have the part in by tomorrow, and they said it can be done Thursday. Im pretty excited because I thought either it was the end of the car for me, or it was gonna cost me something like $800-$1000 to have it fixed. I still might have some money for some mods after all!

i was sittin here thinking "how is that gonna eat up all of your mod money?" 380 is about right with labor.

Well, its gonna put a 'dent' in my mod money. I had a new set of rims planned first. Then a new header with a custom exhaust. This stuff will have to wait for a few weeks now. I stillo need struts too, but they are ok for now. I wanted to get a set of lowering springs, but I cant find anything I like. I dont wanna slam the car, maybe drop it 1.5" up front and 1" outback. I cant find anything like that out there. Anyone have any suggestions?

For some reason I had thought that replacing the support would have been more labor, but it aint too bad. It gets fixed this weekend.

Eibach Sportlines and H&R Sports do about 1.3-1.5in f/r. Eibach Pro-kits are good for 1in. Both should be available for a B14 like yours.

I thought Eibachs lower the car somewhere around 2" upfront or something like that. I know about the H&R's, just wondering if something else was out there.

typically you dont want to do after market springs with stock struts or you will be replacing them much sooner than you anticipate.

Yeah, I know, I already have a set of AGX's in the basement, waiting to either buy lowering springs, or just put them on with the stock springs.
