So my wife's uncle gave me the 1984 720 he had cause he didn't want to fix it. Long story short a couple idiots worked on it and supposedly rebuilt the carb but never put it on before I got the truck. So I got it, put on the carb and to the best of my knowledge put things back as they should have been. Although they had lost the banjo bolt from the front, had to get a new one. So I really have no base for what's right and what's not. Especially since its my first carbureted car and I never saw the thing put together. So now it starts, but runs so rich it can't idle unless I hold the coke open till it warms up, then its still rough and rich. Thing I'm not sure about and I need advice on is there's two jets to dump fuel in right? Well gas only comes out of the one closer to the passenger side. What's the most likely issue here?

Extra note all the vacuum lines look like crap so I was gonna pull and plug them. But I didn't think vacuum lines would cause a jet to not squirt.

The fact that it is rich and won't run right is typical of vac line issues and just general maintenance, although I suppose they could have rebuilt it wrong as well. As far as the jets, only one squirts at idle, and the second one come is above 3,500 rpm or at full throttle engagement. So there is no problem really, there.

Thanks so much! I'll fix the vac issues and see if I can get it tuned. I was hoping the second jet was some conditional thing but really didn't know. Thanks a million!

Even when they're not working, they're great. After two years off the road I still love mine. Can't wait to hear it start again. :rotfl
