I have been checkin out this page for a while. :yesnod My family has had a 720 since '84. We rebuilt the Z24 and bored it out. It has a Weber carb and a set of headers and 2.5 in exhaust. We did a cleaning bore on it. I drive it to work evey day. I average 35mpg at 70mph. My nest thing to do is to change the heads or just change engines.

Head is pretty crappy, there's no lie there. There aren't many options for new ones, however. You could get it resurfaced, shaved, ported and polished for a little more go... but a new engine is generally best. Some go in fairly easy, some take a little more fab work, but if you have an idea, it can happen.

Welcome!

To get back 35 mpg after changing the head would take a lot of time and patience. Do what Peiz said and lets see the results.

Welcome to NICOclub.

different motor would be the best bet. Unfortunately the bay isn't very deep so cutting into the tunnel usually will happen usually because of the shape of the trans etc. but it would be pretty easy to KA24e swap with a truck long block and 240sx intake and throw a turbo on it and run about 8-9psi on a t3/t4 on a log manifold, rx-7 injectors and some tuning whatever that may involve.

If you want more power then build the longblock and tune it again.

I am still trying to figure out how to set up my manifold to push my hx35 holset.
