Thanks for your response, I was thinking unless the door can be adjusted somehow that it was just what you said, sub par body work or the part itself didnt mate right. Hopefully someone with body work experience might have a thing or two to say. The issue it definitely very small, so i'm trying to just get over it. Keeping my eye open for a LH Fender, was able to bang that dent out to keep the wheel from rubbing the fender liner over bumps.DCaff300ZX wrote:Took a look at your video, too bad about the deer imprint!
The problem you have is that when the rear 1/4 was attached to the car they did not do a good job of alignment, or the '96 didn't mate well with whatever year your Z is and the result is that the door and panel are at different locations. Due to the rear 1/4 being a structural part of the car it really is set where it is without a complete re-do of that work, leaving adjusting the door hinges and adjusting the front fenders to match the rear 1/4 height as your only possible solutions.
This is a really bad problem for unibody cars due to the rear 1/4 structural issue, and the fact adjustments can only be made to the non-structural items aligning with it. My TT has severe rear 1/4 damage needing replacement, and causing much as you indicate misalignment of the doors and T-Tops and other areas which can only be fixed by replacing the whole rear 1/4 panel.
Now, I am NOT a body guy and don't know all of the tricks so if any body specialist has a better idea or experience, chime in please as we both would love to know any further ideas or tricks!
