today was a good day. i ran a comp test, adjusted the valves (again), and added a 3rd spring to the throttle return. now hopefully it will actually return to idle.

my comp #s, warm, were....

#1 165#2 168#3 170#4 165

now with those #s i am not going to complain. i have yet to take it on a long drive, just up the street for now, but i hope that my high idle issues at stops will, stop.

oh and if a mod wants to put this in the Datsun Truck section, feel free to move it if you want.

hah! yeah you do. get the film though its brighter and and cheaper. I think it looks better to. And you don't have to mod the brackets to fit in the 620 from the bens. :D

its been a while since i updated. the truck is a great little hauler. i used it to tgransport my tools and whatnot to do a motor swap, moved mom and some other stuffs. worked beautifully. i do think though that the clutch is on its way out though.

over the last few days i have been modding the motor just a little bit. i installed my boneyard weber carb (rebuilt), and EI dizzy which died yesterday. hopefully now it will actually run right. i still ahvent taken it out and about yet with the new carb but its comming along nicely. hopefully i can find another dizzy or a new-ish modual to replace the bad one. soon enough i will have this truck where i want it.

lost the clutch yesterday. and i think hte trnas is on its way out to so maybe it was a blessing. i am actually looking hot and heavy now for a local 200SX 5spd from a 77-79. that way its a bolt in for my truck and i get 5th gear. i love lego cars :D

Having dealt with that trans (77-79 200SX five speed) as I have one in my 320, I'm pretty sure it's shorter than a 620 trans and wouldn't really be a "bolt in" in a 620.

early 620s, 72.5 - 73 like my 73, run a short tail 4spd. the dogleg is the same length. so bolt in.

Cool. The last 620 I dealt with was a 77. Will you need spacers for the mount like you do when you put that tranny in a 69-73 510?

master is in. i now have a working clutch! YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!! but now i get to pull the damn motor and drill out ONE freaking bolt for the damn alt bracket! its teh first one. the stupid one right at teh front of the block. not enough room to get a tap in there let alone a drill. oh and BOTH lower bolts for the alt decided to go AWOL on me. the front one stripped hence why i was pulling the bracket. if its not one thing its another.

I'm very sure that (in 1976, at least) the long bed was only available with the standard cab. If you wanted a king cab you couldn't get a long bed.

Steroid is a hell of a guy, and very helpful!

well i get to do a cab swap sooner than i had planned. i got a new cab, and a PERFECT used core support. cost me a few $$ but it all worked out. so now i need to prep the new cab by fixing a small rust hole in the drivers floor board and weld in my good core support.

NOW for the reason WHY i need to do it..... i went to visit my M.I.L. today and when she left ot head to work, she backed into my 620. not only backed into it, but PUSHED it about 3 FEET back. i only noticed this about 2 hours after she left. i noticed it as the bumper that i had, with tweaked brackets, actually fit. and when i looked at it, it was tweaked down. so when i open the hood i noticed the radiator had been pushed back into the fan, and the alt fan was resting on the lower rad hose. i am going to be working on pulling it apart tomorrow as much as i can, bumper, grille, lights, everything i can find that needs to come apart to check the extent of damage but i already know its done. i will also be updating my pics as well.

this really sucks as i have been trying to get this thing nice and this, although a blessing, is a MAJOR setback. as i dont have the time or experience to fix this right now. i need a truck NOW... which really sucks. so now i have a choice. find someone that can do the weld work i need, OR wait on it, gather parts that are needed, and try to find a 78-79 KC to drive while i am working on my 73. i dont know which right now. i would prefer a KC as a driver since i like to kick the seat back a little more due to my back. my 73 at that point would be a play toy. it would have a nice drop, nice Titan rims, and some nice interior and paint work. but for now its broke and if i had turned it into insurance my baby would be totaled. not really a good day for me.

Hi, last week my pos saab broke down and my dad found an old datsun 620. Friend of my dads gave it to us but I don't really know much about them. The one my dad found is a 75 its been lowered and it also has a Z24 from an 85 720. I have yet to see the truck but i am really excited because my dad had a Datsun in High school, i think his was older. It needs a new clutch and i'd like to get a new hood and hinges to go with it. any help would be greatly appreciated along with any input I really want to know about these trucks. Working on getting photos.

I dont really know much about the z24 motor but its seems to be good from what i have heard. I bought a 620 as my first truck and they are great. the hood hinges on one of mine rusted out were they bolt to the truck so check that out on yours when you get it.
