Feb update
On the 7/8th, the best weather Georgia has seen in months, we ran @ Road Atlanta, sunny 30 to 60 deg,(4)45 min sprints alternating with practice sessions, car is running like never before, feeling like superman we took turns blasting around with a grin.. that came to a abrupt stop, one driver didnt know when to slow down and killed the beast with tire wall around 2pm
Image
101 cars to take the grid Sat, fortunately we had spare parts, borrowed chains and snatched the frame mostly back in place to make the field 102 large
Image
In all we waffled from 4th to 33rd all day finishing 10th
Already rebuilding for May Daytona, lots to do on top of regular wear and tear, brakes are a lil fubar from the lack of ductwork, rack bushings and front struts are hammered because racecar...

OMG Its been a year since those pics were taken, the car has been fixed and raced 4 more times since, but only one top 10 and barely at that!
Daytona 58th Brakes/Header/Fuel Pump
Lemons Sebring 19th Trans Fail
Sebring 10th
Homestead 24hr out after 14 29th transmission..
After some soul searching the team decided we were in need of a boost, a big boost

Dude yes!
The video works just fine. You did the swap I totally wanted to do! You have to provide a parts list or guide so I can get a VH in my J in the future.

Congrats!

No time right now so heres the short answer, more later.
I bought a whole Q45 running, actually bought 2 (wasn't happy with the first),amongst other things make sure to buy a good running 94 or 95 .

This swap is not for the faint of heart! While it practically drops in, it barely fits width and height wise, power steering is a issue around the sway bar,no clue about the A/C, transmission tunnel is too small for the Q trans (you can use the J trans with a bellhousing swap) and even with automotive electrical as part of my day job ( own small shop) I spent countless hours studying schematics trying to get everything hooked up without chopping the car or engine harness up.
This project is soon to be finished, raceday is 19 days and counting, working 3-4 hrs a evening for the last 6 weeks it only moved under its own power a couple days ago.

Build thread here http://www.v8nissans.com/forums/showthr ... -donor-car
I was hoping for some practical help or advice, all I got was crickets, use the forum for its z32 and s13-14 wire help but do not expect any actual help as its a stock build, tossing a turbo in there would have livened up the crowd but there is no way to race my series with one.
I have half a mind to xfer everything over here and delete...

Plenty of loose ends and things that can get done better when time permits but getting close to drivable, need to finish debugging, exhaust by the weekend, big wire blob etc...
Image

It really does look like a factory fitment, if one were to leave the factory cover plastics on it would look quite convincing. Sorry for pic quality its the best that can be done at the moment.

definitely looks like it belongs there.
As unfortunate as it is, forums are a dying piece of automotive knowledge replaced with facebook.

If you are facebook friendly there are 2 groups related to VH swaps with some pros readily available. If you have questions, there are some users that usually respond immediately

VH45DE --> https://www.facebook.com/groups/222713981174156/
VH45DE marketplace--> https://www.facebook.com/groups/VH45DE/

Thats cool that you utilized the Q45 trans, i thought you were going the Z32 trans route

Now after countless hours figuring most everything out with no help I get a clue where everyone is lol, anyway I will have to borrow the GFs facebooks..

There is a competitor with a manual vg30de z32, he has a fast car but at this point we have had better reliability with the stock J30 trans...Looks like we are going to test the limits of the Q transmission, it has its own temp gauge, HUGE cooler, overhaul with shift improver kit and upgraded clutches, stock tcu, no other tricks

Drove it the first time today, it has some debugging but after first ride I joked to a teammate who asked "how fast" I replied "felt like a hemi on a lawnmower.." LOL perhaps not but it sure felt good

Been street driving it every day for 2 weeks to debug, tons of little details finally whittled down to the last couple of things, running better every day.
Its so fast I just bought a Hans device! 5 days till we find out how much fuel it drinks

Barber frigging motorsports park!'

53 cars took the green for a weekend consisting of twin 7hour races. Rain, stifling heat and humidity were factors everyone had to deal with.
Day one I had it up to 7th but red mist, heat fatigue (2 hr in the car) plus inexperience at this way technical and epic track had me making mistakes, spun it then sat stuck in a safety runoff gravel trap 8-10 min awaiting a tow while my competitors raced on put us way back, 14th was the finish result .
Day 2 was better until something with the steering, hard to explain but 1/3 turn of free play is not easy to deal with, possibly the steering rack going south, 9th was all that could be mustered.
Will post vid when time permits
