This is my first post on this forum. My gf and I just picked up an 07 G35 Sedan lastnight and we have a few questions:

1) After doing a few online searches, I feel somewhat relieved that we are not the only G owners who were disappointed in the Bose Stereo that came with our car. I understand that it comes with 2 10'inch subs in the doors, and another 10 in the rear package shelf. All that said, the sound is pretty ****ty. Any suggestions for aftermarket upgrade subs?

2) Also, I've heard that M45 rims (the skinny split 5 spoke rim) will not fit this car without spacers and longer studs. Is this true? Any other alternatives to getting these rims to fit?

Thanks for your help.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to NICO. I'm looking at '07 Sport Sedans myself.

From an audiophile perspective, the Bose blows. Sure, they are doing a lot to upgrade factory systems, but there are always improvements to be made. For the most part, you will need to find out if there is a RCA-level converter around for the '07 headunit wiring harness. If so, then you can simply run the outputs to new amps and new speakers (yes, you would need to replace everything but the headunit). If you go that route, I would suggest spending the money for a JL Audio CleanSweep.

Not sure about the rims on the '07 as I do not know what size and offset they are. I doubt you will need to replace studs for a simple rim swap. Now, if you need spacers > 10mm then that is a probability.

Do you know of a relatively low RMS, efficient 10 inch sub w/ a low frequency response that could just be put in the back deck in place of the current sub? I have no real problem with the system aside from a door rattle as a result of certain mid bass frequencies, but wouldn't mind a bit more deep bass from the trunk, without having to add a box or external amp.

You would probably need a 1ohm free-air sub. I would check impedance on the factory sub first tho.

I'm new here too. Just picked up an '07 G35 Coupe 6MT on Saturday. I LOVE it! I had the same question about the 19" M Sport rims because I just inherited a set. The offset is all wrong, especially in the back, so spacers are a must. I've heard that spacers kill G35s' handling though. Anybody have spacers on their G, or anything else for that matter?

Just think...the 07 sedan is 10x better then the bose for the coupes!!!

I went aftermarket with MTX. Their amps have a high level input, so I just used the lead for the rear "subs". The JL cleansweep is a finicky unit...do the research. Audio control also makes a stock HD converter...
