Hi,

So I bought a 240sx which a huge fart can and I can't STAND IT. I found this thread and have been contemplating it for awhile... but I have a few questions:

Will this directly bolt up to a OBX 4-2-1 header?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-Exhaust-Hea ... 5c&vxp=mtr

If so does that mean with the highflow cat, it will not fit a stock header?'

How much for a 2.5" stainless system, 22 inch resonator, dual tip, with cat shipped to 93933?

Sorry for the random questions just trying to make sure I don't run into fitment issues down the road.

Hey CM, welcome aboard!

A lot of that info can be found on the site (www.brmexhaust.com). We'll make it bolt up to whatever you have... After 13 years of building these, we've seen it all. :)

But yes, it will bolt up to the OBX header (using a stock cat), OR with our testpipe (eliminating the cat), OR with our high-flow cat.

Let's get that fartcan off the 240! :)

I'm so glad i found this post!! Been creepin these boards since I bought my 240 back in 06(first time posting, woop! Woop!), just now got funds to do a swap and those exhaust system sound and look freakin awesome. My redtop is fresh out the oven and the only exhaust component in my car is the stock downpipe. Hitman, what's the best deal I can get for: 2.5in aluminized steel with dual tips, 18in resonator with high flow cat. Shipped to 90706? Also, do I need to buy those rubber things they hang from? Thanks.

Welcome aboard finally!

Here's your homework for tonight:

No need to buy new hangars, unless yours are shagged. After 20-something years, they probably are. :)

AZHitman: how does the high flow cat fit into the system. With my options will it bolt on with no mods to my stock SR downtime? Not a total noob but I want to do this once and hopefully all in one day. Thanks.

No problem - The HFC bolts onto a SR or KA downpipe, then your catback attaches thereafter.

To add a HFC to your order, shoot us an email and we'll do a special invoice for you... We've had some difficulty adding it as an option on the shopping cart in the webpage.

Thanks Red!

Says the page is not found..? How is the fitment on these exhaust, specifically, how close to the frame? Want these to be tugged in nice and close.

We're doing some renovations to the site - Bear with us a bit.

Straightening out the system means it's not going to "tuck" like the factory system did - There's no way around that, unless we make lots of restrictive bends... Definitely a trade-off, but my S13 (bagged) was lower than most, and my BRM system had no clearance issues.

Hey guys, one quick question, will a 22' resonator sound quieter than 14 and 18?!

Great question - The 22" has a little deeper tone than the others, but it's very, very slight. Some cars (especially larger-displacement engines - greater than 2.5 liters) seem to sound best with the 18". The 22" sounds best (in my opinion) on 2.5-liter and smaller engines.

I would also like to say that the customer service was outstanding, all my questions were answered in a ver timely fission, and my shipment arrived in a timely manner, If BRM made a turbo Mani, or just a header, I would buy it from them also, I might be in the market for a three way cat soon , how much for a 2.5'' one of those?

the 2.5" sounds mean. just straight mean, not too loud, little louder than stock. just a little =). any ways it pulls a lot better and I get better fuel mileage out of it, plus and double plus =) chandler

Just stumbled across the brm exausts and was wondering if I need to use the stock down pipe (mine has a big hole in it from a rock strike) or if the test pipe mentioned on the website replaces the down pipe. I still have the stock headers if that matters at all

A test pipe is used to eliminate the catalytic converter. The "down pipe" is usually the part that goes from the turbo outlet to the catalytic inlet. I this is a stock KA powered car, then you have the stock cast iron exhaust manifold, then a section of exhaust that connects the exhaust manifold to the catalytic converter.

BRM makes "cat back" exhausts. That means that thier exhaust starts at the catalytic converter exit (or test pipe) and then goes to the back of the car.

Hope that helps!

Ah thanks for clearing that up for me. Looks like I gotta pull that off to fix it then. Any ideas on where I can get the replacement studs?

Replacement studs for the head or for the exhaust-to-exhaust connection?
Actually, I would think both should be available from your local auto parts store. If they come up dry, an exhaust shop should have some.

Mine has been on 2 different chassis and is still going strong. I didn't even get the stainless version either. I think I've had mine for over 10 years.

So I finally got mine installed (order 779) and after some "encouragement" it fits like a glove. It's loud on my stock ka24 but nothing worse than any stock econo-box at highway speeds. Now I just gotta work on the rest of the car.
