new and have a serious question

hi my name is travis

i recently bout a 92 240sx se and it needed a new valve cover gasket. so i was in the process of taking it off and i noticed that the spark plug wires were stuck. so i played with them abit and it turns out when i got all 4 off there was still part of the boot in around the spark plugs. i was going to replace the spark plugs 2.

so my question is what is the easiest way to remove the rest of the spark plug wire boots.

were the boots just old and decayed or what?

i think they were so in the morning flat head screw drivier and plyers and i will try to persuade them out
