New 720 Owner!

Hello! My name is Tyler and I just recently bought a 1984 Nissan 720 4x4 King Cab. It has the Z24 I believe with a 5 speed transmission. It's bone stock as far as I know, it has a bit of rust, but that doesn't worry me too much as I am not concerned with cosmetics. I'm just wondering where I should even begin with it. And also what are some details on it that I may not know being a new owner? Like gear ratios, etc. Any input is appreciated!!

Welcome to NICO! That's a sweet looking 720! I'd start with general maintenance checks and fluid/filter changes. Hopefully yours has been decently cared for in its past.

Make sure front hubs work I bought my 85 and thought they worked till I really needed them

Get manual, Chilton/haynes.

Lube suspension, take your time so you don't break any barbs and have to replace more stuff.

Check out the condition of the bushings for suspension and the bed to frame. Note the condition and when you have available funds, hit up rockauto and get some cheaper maintanance stuff out of the way.

Check your fluids.

Thanks for the input guys, I am still in the midst of general maintenance right now. I now have the truck sanded and ready for paint. I am using it as a daily driver and it has been treating me well other than some noises that I definitely cannot explain. I'll post progress on here once it is being made.
