Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself since I recently got an '86 720 4x4... I got the truck for $650 as a not running project 3 weeks ago and now it starts the first try every time and runs dead smooth... not bad for a truck that sat for about 10 or so years (it only shows 90k miles on the clock too), it still has the inspection and registration stickers dated 1996 in the window...
I drove it for the first time yesterday and to my surprise it drove very well also so I got me a good starter project.
I also own a 1990 300zx which I've owned since 1998 and I've put about 50k miles on it since then, that car is my baby and it has every performance mod you can put on a non turbo model without adding the turbos and it puts out about 275 horses so it's a lot of fun to drive.
My last Nissan was a 1979 280zx that I added in a Weber throttle body, comp cams 268 magnum cam, re calibrated a/f meter, and Flowmaster exhaust, it was running the 1/4 mile in the 14.20 range... then I converted it to a turbo using an 83 turbo model as a donor car, running 12 psi boost put the quarter mile times in the low 12 second range and the engine could run up to 18 psi boost safely but I never got an accurate 1/4 mile time at those boost levels.
my plan for the 720 right now is to get it dependable first, then work on restoring the interior and paint job... hopefully a v6 swap later on after I get it restored.
