Hey everyone,

I just purchased an old 1990 S13 240sx, and this is definitely my first time working on a JDM. I have a fair bit of experience working and doing body work and minor engine work on old muscle cars, but definitely no experience in JDM cars.

The 240 has had a '89 KA24E swapped into it, and has a ton of horrible interior work done to it. I plan to completely redo this guy, and turn it into a nice sleeper for daily driving.

My first problem is that I can't get the thing to pass emissions testing, which is needed so that I can insure it for more than 3 months. I am at university currently, and live on campus, so I'm working on the car in the parking lot, and manage to get a fair bit done if I need to. I'm definately up to trying to fix this thing myself rather than take it to a garage, but would love to just have it running.

So it failed the emissions test and the results are as shown below. Anyone have any ideas as to what would cause only the idle CO level to be up? The car has what looks like a catalytic converter, but it's not OEM for sure. It's welded on one side and bolted on the other, so it'll have to be taken to a shop to get both sides bolted if I even want to just rent a cat to pass emissions.

Any help would be much much appreciated. Thanks kindly to anyone who reads this!
