I know this has been covered before, but I wasn't convinced.

The tires that the car came with are the bridgestone potenza's. Not pole position, just plain potenzas. These tires are just aweful! They have really bad traction, even when the ground is all dry.

I need help in choosing new tires for when it does rain here in Los Angeles. If the tires I have now su*k in the dry weather, I can only imagine how they might handle in wet weather.

What is a an ok tire for the occasional rain we get in L.A?Money isn't a huge issue as long as I'm getting a good tire. Safety first!

I am running the BFG G-Force Super Sport A/S.

Great tire for all seasons and grips like a hooker on a crackpipe.

My tire of choice (from the last tire discussion thread) are General Exclaim UHP's. I've driven through more than my share of downpours with all the remnants of hurricanes sweeping up through the southeast and I've never had any problems with traction loss or hydroplaning, even driving over the PSL with the VDC off. It makes me wonder about all of the horror stories I read about the tail end getting happy and swinging out - are people being careless, driving beyond their abilities, running on bad tires or a combination of all of those?

The Excalims have a good treadwear rating (380), are relatively quiet and have plenty of traction wet or dry. Best of all they are pretty cheap as far as summer performance tires go. Like most good tires the tread is directional so they'll need to be dismounted from the rim in order to rotate them. I'll be changing over to an all-season as the weather starts to turn colder here on the VA/TN/NC border, but since you live in LA you should be able to run them year round.

How is it that you can find a 350Z Hot Wheels car online, a host of "secret mod" crap on FeeBay as well as plagarizing a review of both intakes and exhausts from there as well but can't even copy and paste a tire name into a Google search bar and find a price?

I paid $380 out the door for the rears. I am running 275/40/ZR18.

They are an exact size replacement for 245/45/ZR18. The width is wider, but the height is exactly the same. Speedometer has a 0.00% difference.

The best tires for dry or light rain are the Toyo R888 R-compound. These tires have crazy performance and are descent in the wet as long as there is no standing water. I drive on them everyday.

They will last about 8000mi, but the yare crazy performance wise.

I am running Goodyear Eagle F1 all season tires in Z rating. They are great in the both wet and dry. Tires are very smooth, but a bit noisy on concrete pavement.
