Folks,

My truck is a 1979.5 Datsun, 5 speed, 4x4, apparently made in Japan. Unlike most American models, it came with the Z18 instead of the usual Z20. Wondering if anyone has the initial timing specs for the Z18.

I know that the L18 spec is 3 degrees BTDC, but can't find anything on the Z18, and, living out here in Asia, there is no way to get my hands on a manual.

Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards to all,

G2L

Its 5 degrees BTDC. I used to run my Z20 8 BTDC because I was running a webber and cut camshaft. :naughty:

Thanks Flinterman,

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you; had grease all over my hands : )

Would also like to know where you found those specs because I can't find much at all on the Z18 out here. Will need more specs in the future as I attempt other repairs.

Best regards,

G2L
