So my new 1986 300zx is having some issues with the digital climate control...it seems like the heat is always on and it seems like it is alway on defrost and i cant get it to blow elsewhere its like it wont respond and the fuses arent blown and i cant seem to find the issue...also the compass and mpg gauge wont work and it is getting on my nerves but they will both light up...any suggestions on either of these topics would be hekpful Thanks

it's a vacume problem, there are 2 vac lines taht enter the cabing near the battery, they go to a series of dashpots located ont he trans tunel just to the right of the drivers feet, the lines or dashpots are cracked and leaking and need replacement, it's a very common issue on Z31's

Open the hood. 90% of the vacuum problems are the lines under the hood.

Also, I only remember one vacuum line going from the engine bay into the car.

I am pretty sure it's only one. Right after it enters the car, it T's off.

Drive to auto parts store.Open hood.Remove vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator.Walk inside and have them match it.Buy 30 feet of that size. (I think a 50ft spool might be cheaper at that point).Pay for vacuum line.Reinstall the hose on the FPR.Drive home.Replace ALL vacuum lines of that size one at a time.
