Need some help guys

Hey guys I may not be a 350z owner but I need your help!I drive a 240sx but I'm in the process of swapping a VQ35 into my car, and I am here to ask some questions.

what should I spend on a VQ transmission (used)?also on a full (un-cut) harness and ECU (used)?

any help would be greatly appreaciated!

I suggest you head over to the 240SX forum and check out the thread that SpecDRacing started. Plenty of info and pics there to answer a lot of questions you may have about getting started.

u should spend no more then a 1100 on a 6 speed used trany try to get a 06 and up i hate the 03-05 they have problems the newer ones r nice and motor no more then 2k so just do ur homewrk and u f b ok hope it helps

already have the motor picked it up for 800 and im buying cp pistons and eagle rods next weekjust need the VQswap.com kit, transmission, harness and my buddys help on hooking up the wires and dropping in the motor. once i get started on the swap ill start posting pics

I think since they couldn't answer your question, they tried to point you in the right direction to help you find the answer more quickly.... Did you try the JDM sites that sell used parts? You might be able to get a deal on a transmission there. As far as the harness and ECU, i don't mean to be a d!ck - but i'll look into it when i have time. Welcome to NICO

I wanted to give him a little more that just "call a junkyard". He asked for an uncut harness but I wanted him to see SpecD's post stating that he had to fab together two or three harnesses to get his VQ properly set in his S13.

Then there's asking about a spare ECU and the immobilizer chip issue. Granted the ECU can recognize multiple keys (read that somewhere in SpecD's build thread) but its still a potential hurdle.

There's just a lot of great information in the thread I posted (and the one Soup posted - thanks btw, I'd never seen that thread Soup!) and not knowing much to go on from the OP I wanted to give him what I knew about. You know, "give a man a fish...teach a man to fish" and all that.

yeh that NATS is going to get in the way... i myself am not going to be doing the wiring (leaving that up to a shop to do)

ive got price quotes for the labor only on the full swap that ranges from 1000-2300 so.... i think ill be putting in alot of wrench time to save on that money

like i said once i strat getting it put together ill post pics and start a build thread for you guys
