There is a how to thread on this but i give u the basic steps to do this.

First off buy some wet/dry sand paper, get a 400 grit and a 600 grit paper.

SO take your engine cover off, and wash it clean of any dirt and grime. Afterwards sand it down first with 400 grit sand paper, gonna be a while but take your time with it.

Once your done, give it another wash and rinse, just water is fine, then sand it one more time with the 600 girt to give it a nice and smooth finish.

Once you finish with the 600 grit, give it another wash and either air dry it or use a hair drier to have it dry quicker.

Then after that, use any kind of paint, but the type you need would be ENGINE ENAMEL, which can withstand heat up to 500 degrees F. YOu can buy it at any auto parts store, i got mines at autozone. about 5-6 dollars a can.

Below is a link of what i did to my engine cover, might add in a few more things once i figure out what else to do with it,. maybe a blue trim around the edge of the cover, and another design?...who knows...
