I just bought a 74 620 pickup.  I'm not sure of the engine size, year etc but believ its not original.  Its either a 1800 or 2000 and has a 5 speed gearbox (which I know came out after 1974).

My problem is I just changed oil and added 4 1/2 quarts of oil and its not even showing on the dipstick.  The dipstick appears to have been modified as signs of welding/soldering are at the tip end.  Can anyone telll me how long the dipstick is supposed to be?

Thanks:?

the low mark is about 3/4" from the bottom and  the full mark is 1 3/8" from the bottom as well...

Sorry, but forgot to measure it from the top stop!

Thanks.  The picture helped out a lot.  As I expected my dipstick has been modified (I have no idea why) and is only 10" long from the tip to the top of the rubber plug.  It is around 2 3/4" short.

I'll either try to adjust the rubber stopper or have to find another one.

Thanks again

because they changed oil pans to clear a tie rod....the L series has a bunch of different pans. Sump to the rear, sump all the way to the front...the middle.

Just change oil and make a mark where the oil level is when full. and you can tell the engine size by looking at a spot just below number 4 spark plug.
