Ok I'm trying to decide on which kind of car to get, to best meet my goals. So far I have it narrowed down to the 240sx, DSM, or a MarkIII Supra. My main goal is a daily driver that runs 12's. So I was wondering what it takes to get a 240 into the 12's? I am mechanically inclined and I'm not at all opposed to an engine swap, but I was just wonder who out the is running 12's and what it took to get you there.

Thanks,

Dave

Okay, here is what I think IMHO....

DSM....good luck being a daily driver, esp. since they break down quite often, BUT you can create serious power from them. Another negative though is that its fwd and there are sooo many of them around

MKIII Supra......great except they have known to have severe head problems from my research. Also I dislike the body style some, I am not for sure but I am guessing its heavy.

240sx....a 12 second 240sx or almost any 4 or 6 cyl. wouldn't be a good daily driver because they are not going to be very streetable. When you start talking about that much power, its hard to handle and maintain. As far as engine swaps, the sky is the limit. We have had people even put in small block chevy's in them and they are quick as can be! With the right amount of money anything is possible with the 240sx. You can't loose with it.

Hope this helps...any other questions??

Thanks for your help, I was thinking about going for a hybrid rb30 engine swap. I heard that those lay down some serious power.

And as far as what I would be looking for in a daily driver realy I just mean I don't want a HUGE turbo, that I won't feel anything entill like 6k then I get my neck-broken.

Thanks,

Dave

As much as I don't like to admit it, the DSM might be your best bet.The upgrades aren't as costly as a 240sx, the repairs are cheaper, and an AWD system is always helpful to start with. As mentioned though, DSM's break down quite often. The repairs are cheaper than a 240, but you might have more of them to deal with.
