So I am building my first fiberglass sub enclosure and so far so good. But I am curious if I should add some be-quite mat to the inside. I have some extra. Would it help or hurt.

I'm no audio-phile but wouldn't that absorb the sound waves instead of projecting it out? sound absorbing mats are, well, sound absorbing. so wouldn't this be counter productive?

Yea I get what ur saying. But I was thinking if I placed it on the bottom and the back it. Might help project the sound forward. I know I have hears of people putting packing peanuts or pillows into there box. I don't know,

To be honest, I don't think deadening the inside of the box makes much of a difference.

The packing peanuts/foam are generally used to "increase" the volume of the box. Say you have a 0.75 cubic foot enclosure and you load it with some foam. The sub that is placed in there will likely perform more like it was in a 1.0 cubic foot box. It's not really and exact science, and the best bet would be to fab the box correctly in the first place. IMO, save the money and don't deaden the inside of the enclosure.

Yea I decided against putting the mat in. I have the first box built and even this I still have a lot of Samsung filling and painting to do. I installed the sub for a sound check. It sounds so much better in a proper box. It sounds a lot more accurate now. I will hopefully start the second box today. And maybe get the floor/amp rack built
