Hey Guys,

We are working with a new reality TV show that is going to be coming out called Formula D TV. I'm not going to go into the specifics because its not important.

The tv crew is coming next Monday to follow the buildup of a stock 1997 240SX. One of my friends shops is competely building this thing for the TV show. We have to complete it in 3 weeks, where it will make its grand debut at Formula Drift in Houston, TX.

If there is anyone with a built SR20DET making 350 HP or above, please give us a call tonight, ASAP at 501-230-1343. You can call anytime, I live by myself....

Thanks!

you got $15K to work with? Go get one from Tomei (nice and easy, dude) Or maybe you'd like to build the engine all yourself?

I should have explained better.....

The camera crew arrives on Monday morning, we are doing this last minute to help out a shop in Miami, FL.

They don't have time to import a Tomei motor. So, we are looking for someone that already has a built motor that they can drop in and not worry with.

They have to build an entire car that is capable of D1 competition in two weeks! That includes paint job, graphics, etc...

There is no time to worry with a motor, so I'm looking to you guys for help...

Thanks!

I'm not. I'm a gaijin. weren't the 180sx and 240sx both RPS13 chassis codes? if he's swapped in a sr20det or a ca18det, he's effectively made it a 180sx...I dont see the problem in referring to it as such, even if its LHD.-chet

right....so a 180sx would have a CA18...hence 1.8L 180. The S14s and S15s in Japan are called 200sx...hence 2.0L 200. So i'm not totally sure that an SR powered S13 would still be refered to as a 180sx....though they did change the engines and didn't change the body, so maybe they where still refered to as 180sx with the SR20....which would just be odd.

oh...and how would one refer to this engine build as "reality" it isn't very realistic to buy a built motor, and slap it into a car in a few days and call it a "build"

guys, guys, guys.......a 240sx is a 240sx untill u put a ca18det into it AND make it right hand drive (RPS13), or a sr20det into the sedan body, making it a SILVIA. a SILVIA is a sedan style 240sx with a sr20det. now....a sileighty has a 180sx rear-end and a SILVIA front end with a SILVIA sr20det.

by the way, i still dont like the idea of the reality show and where did my old post go. the man is just tryin' to keep me in the dark

but the 180sx also came with sr20's...RPS13=SR20 180sx

why does it have to be RHD? if the engine and chassis are the same, it's the same car. "a sileighty has a 180sx rear-end and a SILVIA front end with a SILVIA sr20det."

what about a silvia front end on a CA18DET 180sx chassis? thats still a sil 80. and the sr20det did come in the later 180sx anyways... you're so quick to spout out things. relax a bit. -chet

hahaha.

ever heard of the body style "Silvia?"180SX started with a CA18, after two years was given an SR20S13 Silvia started with a CA18, after two years was given an SR20.S14 and S15 SILVIA all had SR20's.

In the US, they are called 240SXIn Japan, they are called 180SX or SilviaIn Australia, S13's are gray market, S14 and S15 are 200SXIn Europe, they are all 200SX.

From what I've noticed the numbering is actually a big deal on European cars. Kind of like how they sell an EVO 247 or something, the 247 being the number of horsepower. Also, renaming a car significantly might confuse some people. Maybe that's one of the reasons why BMW called the 2.5L 3-series the 323i, and the Mercedes C230 Kompressor coupe has a 1.8L engine.

I just find it kinda weird how the 180SX was the 180SX even though all their other cars have/had names. Gloria, Silvia, etc. Our infinitis get alphanuermics to make it sound fancy like them
