unless you got a ticket, and had to have the car tested for noise pollution i dont know why he would want to quiet it. I have hks hyper and i love the way it sounds, i dont think i would ever put a silencer on it.

nah mine is loud, i have custom piping plus i have the turbo muffler not the N/a one, so the silencer shouldnt hurt my performance at all b/c it such a big muffler. Plus it takes away from my great soundin injen intake, i wanna hear that more.

All the cat back N1's for the 240 use the 80mm mufflers. So when you talk about N1's here most people assume you have the catback with the 80mm....

SCC tested the silencer on the N1 and lost a hp or two so it does hurt performance as well :)

Rollhard.com sells em, as well as many others. Might want to check ebay as well as its a universal item.

The only way Id run a silencer, is if I had it already, and planed on taking a very long trip. My exhaust makes me sleepy from the hum sometimes hehe But long trips would have to be like 5 - 6 hrs long minimum.

why would people assume i have the 80mm catback N1. I specifically said that i have the N1 "TURBO" muffler w/ custom piping. But anyways im not sayin i wont have a performance change at all, just my opinon is that the muffler is too big for my NA motor and w/ the silencer i believe i may regain a pound foot of tourqe or two back.

What you fail to realize is that your "turbo" muffler is the same as on the cat back.... I never even think about the smaller so called "NA" muffler as it isnt offerend for the 240, but only in universal form... By the way did I mention the fact I think apexi labling it as a "turbo" muffler is rather gay...

Anyway I know they lost hp and might have lost torque as well but I cant remember exactly. Also 1 - 2 ft/lbs may not even be noticeable.... Its your cash though and they sell it basically anyplace N1's or apexi exhausts are sold.

nope smarty pants. You lose hp. and your not going to gain any noticable torque at all. Actually, why DO you have that muffler with custom piping on you NA? you must have a crap *** low end.

^^^^ I am betting hes running 2.5" piping. Hell Im running, along with countless others, the 3" / 3.25" inch plumbed full N1 and noticed no low end loss. The 3" piping really doesnt effect low end torque at all in this truck engine :) . After all they dont have a so called NA N1 offered for the 240 only the so called Tuuuuuurbooooo (hehe ive never called it that before hehe), or 80mm system.

he's right..the 80mm muffler, then the larger 95mm or whatever it is, is called the "turbo" muffler.

Nope the 60mm (lil under 2.5") is the NA and the 80mm (3.25" nearly) is the turbo. This, of course, is inlet piping sizes, which they refer too. You're thinking of the tip... in which case the 60 has a 90 and the 80 a 115...

Im not saying you are a tool for calling it a turbo muffler, but if you want to think that go ahead.. Im just saying that labeling them like that from the company is lame. Its like they think anything running 3" must be from a FI engine, which is not always the case.

I dunno man, every japanese manufacturer who made an exhaust for a tubo car seemed to think it was good idea to make the diameter 3" and up, I've yet to see a 3" system manufactured for an NA four banger. Thermal R&D, who make exhausts for hondas, make a 60mm exhaust for na models, and 80mm exhausts for forced induction hondas. Not saying your wrong, just that this seems to be the consensus for exhaust diameters.
