lol a pepboys commercial came on while I was reading this.........

dude specialized tools suck a dic.......we have this coffee machine, (jura capresso) it's like a $1k machine and when something went wrong with it all the screws were a specialized head so we couldnt take it apart to fix it without buying a $45 drill bit

hope it works out with the headers man, I hear it's a huge improvment

I am not able to put the alternator back in place with the belt on without a tensioner. What tools did you use and how did you get the alternator back on

The tensioner is located in the middle of all the pullies. The tensioner is sprin loaded. once depress the spring it gets smaller so the belts can fit. the job takes 2 guys one holding the tensioner from the bottom up and a guy on the top slipping the belt on. the tool my uncle used a wrench and a screw driver. check out the fsm for more details

Fyi your emial went to my spam folder and i was running to dinner b4.

By not manually adjustable i think they may mean that its either open all the way or not at all.i could be wrong

But i know for a fact the alternator came off and got put back on. My uncle was under the car and it was hard work while he was down there.

For some reason i think you should check out the light weight/underdrive pulley write up. That should explain how to do this, since that is pretty much the whole thing.

Most tensioners are not adjustable, but like Danny said, it's spring loaded. There is a 1/2 square drive on most tension pulleys where you can use a 1/2 breaker bar to unload the tension. I've found in the past that having two people for a belt change is useful. Hope you resolve your problem Rob.

I can't follow that, I can't get any tool to the tension pulley. I'm not sure how it moves, or if I have to unscrew something or what. I need this done within the next hour or I'll lose all my sunlight.

I had the same problem. on top of that, the belt slipped out and i couldnt find a diagram telling me how the belt was supposed to go back on. So i sucked it up, called a tow truck and got it taken to a meinike who installed it for me. I didnt have the right tools to take off the header and i started stripping heads so i said forget it, i need a heat to get the bolts off and i didnt trust myself enough with it nor the belt. I dont think my post helps but im just sharing my troubles with the headers. But they are in and they scream!!

Ya I got the headers on. Figured out how the tension pulley works and finished everything up around midnight (working on the headers from 10am-12am). Spilt coolant though and it was making my headers smoke. Took it out for a drive today and it sounds decent but I don't notice that much of a difference.

I could definitely tell post 4k rpm but before that it didn't feel any different. I could barely hear a tone change, maybe a little bit higher pitched if anything.

I am going to retighten all the bolts when my engine cools off again and then I'll be good to go

i skipped that step haha

Def after 4k you can feel it pull. But the header only gives 6-8 hp. Thats nothing super. But im going for the Sum of all the mods.

Okay after putting a little bit more miles on it, the tone has definitely changed.

I could only hear it when at low speeds and flooring it, if I was already at highway speeds I can just hear my intake.

But yes, I'm pretty happy with this mod and am looking heavily into getting an exhaust now.
