Your 3 cylinder issue could very be a bad ignitor or ignitor harness plug. If your engine compression is good in all cylinders and spark plugs are not wet, then assume your issue is around your intake manifold. Your throttle plate stop arm's adjusting screw can very well be too high. It is the arm that stops your throttle cable carriage arm from hitting the manifold and completely shutting idle air off (you'll need an 8mm wrench for this one). Another point of interest that no one knows much about or has ever mentioned is the seal that seperates the two butterfly sections on your intake manifold. Although rare, these things do go bad and cause a massive leak that you will never be able to find. If you look down behind your intake side valve cover and in the middle of the butterfly housings, you'll see a lever with an adjusting screw on it. On each side of this part is seals that can easily be blown out by a violent intake backfire. hope this info helps.........DjLiquid wrote:Ok, so my car needs to be 100% done minus the exhaust work and then in for a safety by tomorrow. The car doesnt bloody start.. It sounds like it wants to run on 3 cylinders when I try and start her but after about 10 secs of cranking, I can let off the ignition and she'll start but automatically go to 2500 rpm and sit there until i turn her off. Also, its kinda funny cause when I say it sounds like its trying to start on 3 cylinders, I have sparks in all 4 cylinders, also it doesnt constantly sound like its trying to run on 3, but sometimes 4. I know I set my timing right but im going to inspect it again. I swapped coil packs (with dead ones) and it got worse. I swapped the CAS with one I picked up from the junkyard the other day and I never got a spark or any detonation from any coil packs.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?
Note: the CAS is in the default position when I crank it over
