Does anyone know a trustable VK56VD engine source? I will need a consensus. 1 person promoting their scam is not going to work. I want 10 people to say they are good.

Thanks.

I just don't want to be taken. I need people to agree.

Find any one of these with low mileage and clean oil at your local JY:
Infiniti QX80 '11-up
Infiniti M56 '11~'13
Infiniti Q70 '14~'19
Nissan NV2500/3500 HD '17-up
Nissan NV Passenger '17-up
Nissan Titan '17-up
Nissan Armada '17-up
To my knowledge, the lower hp in some of those engines compared to your M are all from the M's premium tune and not different hardware. The engine itself should be identical. If by any odd chance you can't find anything reputable-and-local, try LKQ.

I hear you re: don't want to be taken. I purchased a replacement motor from LQK. It arrived damaged and it was in worse condition than expected. LKQ does not offer pictures of their motors so it's basically buy and pray for the best. If you're lucky enough to find a motor make sure it is identical to what your replacing. The motors are not the same they only share the same 5.6 badging.

Yah, the early VK's weren't VVEL and won't work for you. The list I posted is all VVEL-equipped MY's.

Those motors, with the exception of the M56 and the Q70 5.6 that you listed, will not work. The others are completely different motors and are not compatible without extensive custom work.

I'll defer to your better knowledge, but if he can't treat it like a short block and transfer parts, I'd say he's in big trouble. Good luck finding either of those two.

Thanks for the advice.

Hearing "If I am lucky enough" does instill me with confidence... thus why I asked.

Should I just sell it for parts and start over?

Someone needs to get t-boned and sell me their engine.

I kid sorta. If you have a trashed car with a good engine... I will buy it.

Dino tests will be on you.

If it passes the tests... I will pay a lot.

Money is not really a thing. I just want to avoid buying 3 engines to get a good one.

Help me. Who sells good ones?

Given what Reggie said, your problem is that production numbers on the M's and Q's aren't huge to begin with, and only a small percentage of them were built with VK's. In the best year (2015) Infiniti built 7,822 Q70's. M's averaged about 13K per year from '05~'15, and in both cases only a small minority were 5.6L. So you'll be very lucky to find anything good in a JY. If price isn't an issue, Infiniti shows the Q70 short and long blocks both available.
