Hey guys! My headers came in a couple weeks ago and I'm in search of a shop in the Chicago area that can do the install. There was one shop I talked to before that said they knew how to do it, but in speaking with them today now I'm not so sure. Anyone have a recommendation?

THANK YOU!!!! I'll give them a call. I paid $2,100 for the headers. Haven't ordered the CATs yet. Wanted a recommendation on them to make sure I was getting the right ones. PPE recommended Magnaflow 59905, but those don't have o2 sensor ports. Won't that cause the CEL to stay on and prevent me from passing emissions testing?

Probably. Will those Headers work for the S model as well?

Also ask for Eddie. He's the owner. Tell him David Brumfield recommended them. They've been in business for over 20yrs. At that same location. Ive been dealing with them for at least 10yrs. They do awesome work and are reasonable.

From what I was told they will work for all 5.6 engines. Double check to make sure. I believe the only model that was an issue is the AWD version, which is what I have. If it fits mine it should fit them all. I'd ask to make sure, though.

I'm still looking into the cats. Are all Magnaflow cats hi flow? If so, there are a few options I've found.

Yeah but i talked to them already. They have a part number but the part hasn't been created yet. They cant find An M56 in California where they are. Our cars are rare.

With the custom headers I have been looking at universal cats. Magnaflow has several that have o2 sensor ports. I'll probably go with one of those. One of the ones I found was # 94056. I'll be calling the shop you recommended this week and will confirm with them before I order.

Ok. Ill look at those cats. I want to get the ones from the the headers and delete the back 2. My guy did that on his in Texas and hasn't had any issues with emissions. Or im going to have to get rid on my car. The dealer wants 3500 just for the front 2 and 3100 in labor!

You can delete the secondary cats without touching the primary. What I did was delete the secondary cats along with the y-pipe and resonator; replacing it with 2 1/4" exhaust connecting to a Jones Exhaust x-pipe and replaced the OEM mufflers with the Infiniti Sport ones. Didn't have to touch the primary cats or header. Several other users here have done the same or similar. I'm pretty sure I copied a lot of what I did from armybrat, except he did 2 1/2" exhaust.

I'm doing the headers now because the cat on the drivers side needs to be replaced and the only way to get to it is lift the engine, which as you know from getting a quote from the dealer is very expensive. Replacing the OEM headers provides higher flow for more power and also will eliminate the need to lift the engine in the future should I need to replace the driver's side cat in the future. I'm changing both sides with the customer headers and cats. The cost will be less than going to the dealer and I will end up with a faster car when it's done :werd:

Ok... the search is back on. Anyone know a shop in the Chicago area that can replace the headers?

I’m almost at my wit’s end. Had a shop tell me they could do the job; had the car all day and called me to say they couldn’t. Threw my alignment off and thankfully that’s all they did. At this point I’m willing to travel to someone to get the job done. Anyone have a recommendation? It may make a fun road trip… at least the way back would be :-)

If it comes to this and the car has to go out of town, are you able to operate without the vehicle for a few days or is this your primary vehicle?

Alternatively, do you have a garage that people can safely work in?

If it comes to me taking the car out of town I would plan on staying in a hotel and work remotely for a few days until it’s done. It isn’t my preference, but I’d be willing to do it depending on how far I’d have to travel. As far as my garage, yes. I have a 2-car garage at my house that could be used. I don’t have a lift or very many tools, though.

PPE Headers are in and all work is done. No tune. Here's a short clip I took today. I have tried 3-4 times to imbed it in the post, so if a moderator sees this and it's still not right, please help :woot:

I found a shop in South Chicago Heights, IL that did the job. Excellent work.
