I don't know what forum I saw this, but I'm pretty sure it was this one, that this guy has the entire navi CD collection: maphillips@*****.

I emailed him and he said he'd set me a copy for $100.

I mailed him a check, guessing I'd risk $100 for all 9 cds.

I got a response:"I got the check but my bank won’t take a starter check. You could get a money order or use western union."

He seems REALLY nice, but i am skeptical now. I just opened a bank account and used one of the "starter" checks. What bank doesn't take these???

I just paid for my 2001 QX4 with a "starter" check in full. I used to work retail in college, so I know this can be true, but depositing a check into a bank account should be harmless... am I right or wrong?

Everyone has different policies these days so I guess it could be true, but just using this post as information if anyone goes through what I did.

So nothing against this guy if any of you know him. I'm just being cautions.

On a side note.... does anyone have a set? I have the Chicago CD, whatever region that is. I'm willing to make copies for free as long as you trade something with me.

Hey i have east coast cd number 8 never opened from the package. I was trying to do a navi conversion and I never finished. I paid 120.00 for it plus shipping. If you can give me a reasonable offer i will sell it to you. I haven't opened the package so i don't want to open it unless i can sell it or something. Kind of a waste of money thing.

Oh how do you like you like you navi unit. I really wish i just paid the extra for the navi unit and got one. I have wasted so much money trying to convert my Qx4 to a navi version that I could have bought multiple navi systems.

Hey if ever you get tired of yours or you want to go custom, I will buy yours from you and swap you with all non navi equipment.

Yeah I sent the guy a hundred bucks and he sent the CD's promptly. I spoke with him on the phone and he is a super nice guy. I would not worry about it and I have heard people/places not accepting starter checks before, so that sounds legit.

I love the navigation. Only thing that I don't like is that it's CD based, not DVD. That means switching CD's. Overall, I just like the look of a OEM screen.

I suggest you go to a custom alarm/sound place and have them do a custom install of a touch screen into your center console. My cousin is a audio/visual installer and said it is a bit tricky but can be done.

On your East Coast CD, I'll have to pass, I'd offer way too low so I wouldn't want to waste your time. Thanks for the offer though.

An unopened CD like that might be a good item to sell on eBay?

I take that back, the navi is only good on the highway. The CD or processor is REALLY slow. So if I make a wrong turn it takes a while for it to recalculate.

It is fine on the highway where there are few directions, but city direction are pretty bad.

Also, the street names are sometimes hard to read and navigation around the map.

Oh well, it's a 2001 navigation system, what can you expect. I've only used it a couple times when I go visit friends, but besides that I just like how it looks. I'll probably have someone look at it if they could upgrade to aftermarket using the same screen. But my next project is the intake so the navi is last on my list.

I still use mapquest...
