130 and took 10 mins with bad back and back brace...
Takes a hell'uva lot more than that to take the dash off and then replace it ..?! That's what scares me.

I've thought about taking pictures of the connectors (either with a measure next to them, or with relevant measurements written down as well) and going to a real radio/electronics store to see if I could get mating connectors. It wouldn't look as clean, but if stuff that matches (or that can be put together to make a match) exists, it would cost far less than that while still allowing easy removal with no cutting or splicing of anything OEM. I figured I'd just use a phone wire and two crimp or punchdown RJ11 jacks between the hoemmade harness and the switch, so even that would be relatively simple to work on (build it all in the kitchen instead of the car). I even have a great, albeit complicated if possible, idea for the swich. Being the lazy bum that I am, I've only thought about it, several times in two years.

Hi, does the harness cause loss of GPS tracking same as wire splicing? I would imagine, the answer would unfortunately be yes... Does it come back to normal RIGHT after you turn the switch off or do you need to slow down to 30 mph as someone had previously mentioned?

Also, have you found a bigger stock-looking switch or something that's at least not as ugly and tiny as the one they included in the package? Photos would be appreciated as your video appears to have been removed... Youtube?

Thnx!

Cool, thanks! Let us know if you get a chance to play with the nav - how is the GPS tracking, do you need to flip the switch off to restore to normal and/or slow down to 30 mph, etc... Thnx again.

Well on way to work this morning I turned gps on and flipped switch.. the map screen freezes but the arrow still turns as you do... Once you flip switch of it takes about 5 sec or so and it picks you up again. I was doing 80 on freeway when it kicked back on

Great stuff, thnx, Now, if only someone programming savvy could figure out how reprogram the system's brain to bypass the confirmation screen and all the other electro-nanny BS!

With any of the Nav hack versions you will ALWAYS have to flip the switch back to normal mode to allow the GPS to track you properly.

You realize that I was talking about SOFTWARE hack, not hardware. If yes, please post an image of a physical switch used with programming code. ;)

I didnt realize you were talking about a software hack, no where did I see one mentioned. I dont even know of a software only hack that exists. You would need a dump of the entire NavTeq program and delete the lines of code that do a check against speed and parking brake, then re-compile it and check for and errors. If all is 100% good, which is probably wont be, then you would flash it into the navigation. This would be far more time consuming and dangerous than splicing a wire.

Too bad that GeoHot dude (of the iphone and PS3 fame) just got hired by Facebook and may not be willing or able to accommodate our request.

Anyways, it was a tongue-in-cheek/wishful thinking comment. There are not that many M's for someone to even start looking into this. I don't suppose that very many hackers drive the M's either... Besides, correct me if I am wrong, didn't Infiniti get rid of at least some of the annoyances on the newer cars (i.e. OK to use Nav after each and every start)?

Do I dare to make the next wishful request to link the front passenger air bag sensor and the Nav functionality so the passenger could input the info while the car is moving?

I have nto done it in a while but...
1) remove coup holders (no screws)
2) remove shifter cover, two screws near coup holders then move shifter to N by remove plastic cover near top left of cover, use transmission lock tool from tool kit in trunk.
3) pull off CD/radio cver, two screws on bottom
4) remove cd/radio unit, 4 screws two on each side.

Nav is not there though, thats just the stereo. To get to the nav you have to pull the glovebox out, then remove all the screws and take all that stuff off.

I bought the TVK module for my Nav-Hack on my 09 M35. It seems an easy job, but the instructions are not clear as to where the parch is done. Is it on the connector on the rear of the radio, or the connector on the rear of the actual screen itself?

My hack was done behind the DVD drive, but I know the 08 and 09 models are HDD based so I cant give you completely solid advice. My *guess* would be though that it is done behind the radio since that is more where data connections and stuff would be coming in and out of. But hopefully someone who has done it on an 09 can comment so you are sure.

Thanks Enigma. So sorry to post & run but I had to fly home late Friday after some rather bad news about my Auntie. Just got back this morning at about 6am states time. Thanks for responding. I will be doing the hack in the next few days. I already know from reading the earlier posts that the ground has to be a good, secure one for it to work properly so I will keep that in mind as well.

Cheers

Can anyone help guide me on how I can do a video bypass while driving on my 2008 Infiniti M45?

Currently the car does not allow video while driving and the only way it will play video is with the e brake on.
