Been struggling to figure out what is causing my plugs to constantly foul out. They smell like gass and just get carbon all over them after starting and running engine for 10mins or so. You shut it off the. Starts running s*** and pligs are coverd in carbon again. We fixed the timing because that was off a bit and made sure all coil packs worked. Weve been trying to figure it out for a week and to no avail. All help apreciated

I read a few times over.

Im assuming maybe you put in new spark plugs and after 10 min of running ok it then runs bad.

You then pull out the plugs and they are covered in carbon.

Id maybe suspect bad gas. Fault codes set? Large vacuum leaks?

How long has it been sitting or did the problem just begin out of nowhere?

Really need more information to give better feedback.

We bought the car off some other guy so its definitly been sitting awhile. And yea after putting new plugs in and run it, it runs perfectly fine until you shut it iff then goto start it again. We ran it almost out of gas so i dont think theres any old gas left in it. We did the timing after the problem already was there assuming maybe the timing was causing the issue and the issue was still there.

Possibly as simple as a fuel pressure regulator that has failed. This would cause an over fueling condition. A fuel pressure check would tell you.

A coolant or intake temp sensor stuck in the cold range would cause over fueling once it was warm.

Of course a MAF sensor could be just dirty or defective.

Exhaust could be stopped up I suppose.

Maybe just jump right to a compression test since history on it is not available.

Really need better symptoms.

You start it and it runs flawlessly? Has a slight sputter to it when you mash the gas to the floor? Backfires? Can you take it for a drive? Does it smoke? What color or smell to the smoke?

It runs perfectly up until we shut it off and then try to start it and it stalls out and barely keeps running and starts smoking. And then we check the plugs and all 6 are completely carbon coverd. Weve cleaned rhem and tried again does same thing even tried new plugs and does it. Smoke is white when it starts smoking.
