I am looking for a cost efficient way to replace the resonators in my 1990 300ZX NA. It failed emissions yesterday because each pipe leaving the resonator had a hole rusted through it. We talked about DIY muffler repair but they said the holes were big enough that it would likely blow it right off. From what I hear, I could spend as much repairing at a muffler shop as just buying a replacement.

At ~$800 the OEM one makes no sense so does anyone have any recommendations for the mid pipe section only that would be no more than $200? I found this one at Summit but am not familiar with Walker or their quality/fitment. Thank you in advance.

Lol if your cats are good just replace both reso pipes with an x-pipe! If you have the chance to make a significant upgrade for cheaper than stock replacement, I'd take advantage of the shop time. Just my opinion

^^^I agree with MarkerZ32. The Cat is what does the real work when it comes to emissions. The resonators are not necessary. I would just remove them.
