I've been doing alot of research for my future mods and I found out as you all know that the list of mods differs greatly between going na or fi.

My thoughts are to go NA because I don't want to invest $20k in a turbo and reinforcing the engine components. However, I do have a question for all you 350z gurus:

What is the most hp that one can get from adding exhaust, headers, hiflow cats, intakes, engine spacers, and a ecu relfash after adding all those on? Does anyone have a good idea? (I don't need proof of dyno's, but i dont want someone to just add up the manufacturer's estimated gains either)

What's worth getting for good hp gains and what do people get for just louder sound (no signif. gains)?

BTW I have an hr 350z. Thanx guys

Probably about 275 at the wheels.

I know youy're thinking "My car has 330 HP"... that's at the crank. Subtract the 20-25% for drivetrain loss, and add the few ponies for mods, and you have 275.

Look at it like this. Greg dynoed his 03 G35. Suppose to have 285 HP (at the crank). It had like 215 at the wheels. So calculating loss...

I'm not sure if the 08 hr z makes 330 but the 07 makes only 306. but thanx for the info, that gives me a good idea what to expect.

wouldn't it be nice to make 315+ N/A that easy! Well to make a lot of power N/A think about building the heads, or even the entire motor. But with the mods your wanting to add, 280+ i would call it (whp). I should be 260+ and i'm stock exhaust manifolds and cats. Just can't decide if i want turbo or SC yet, and headers are a PITA on this car - so we will see!

At Stillen in Costa Mesa I was dynoed at 274HP with with only the Fujita twin intake and Stillen true dual exhaust. This was imediately after having the exhaust installed. Everthing else was stock on my 08 350Z.

My 2004 Z has NISMO cold air intake, cams, headers, cat back exhaust, motordyne plenum spacer and a reflasfh from Technosquare. My motor was 287 bhp stock and 222 actual rwhp before I started in 2004.

At Technosquare recently it put down 269 rwhp, but we weren't seeing the expected gains from the cams from 6600 to 7100 rpm The reflash raised the rpm red line). This is likely about 330 bhp at the crank.

Tadashi suggested a colder plug might help. My car had 70,000 miles on it when we did the dyno, so this engine is a little tired.

Different dynos produce different results, but my mods appear to have added 47 rwhp and a lot of torque.

Newer Z's come with a higher stock output and should see the same performance numbers with a smaller investment.

Th best performance bang for the buck from my mods was the 5/8" Motordyne plenum spacer.

My advice is to buy a newer Base Z (very light, no electronics) and spend the money on tires, wheels, brakes, sway bars and suspension......
