Was really considering buying a z32, I want a car I can build but I can't afford a tt unless it were some kind of hooptie with over 200k miles, I've found some really clean n/a ones but the tt is obviously faster. So I was wondering if it would be easier and more beneficial to just build and boost the n/a, versus swapping it for a tt which I've read is more difficult than it would seem.

What's your budget, and if you find one at a car lot you can always finance. I financed my z32. But if you buy an na and swap your looking at or around 5k in engine(rebuild/reseal) and the front clip.

You best bet if you really want a Z, get an NA, enjoy the car. Do mods that will transfer over like brakes, suspension, selin transmitter, wheels, etc. Then when you have more money down the road swap in a TT.

Or just wait till you find a TT at a good price. A decently priced one will eventually come up, just remember, which ever car you buy, you will need to do basic maintenance timing belt, plugs, etc. Even if the seller states they already did all of that, think he is lying and do it anyway. These are interference motors and if the belt breaks, it will cause damage. If you also do not have the money for parts to do maintenance on these, then just get the NA. Turbos can get very expensive very fast, so even though they are fast and fun, just remember if the turbo goes out, the engine must be pulled to replace.

If you alo know how to drive a 5 speed, get one. Skip on the auto's, they have issues and are not as fun to drive.

I would tend to stay away from dealers on these cars, they almost double the price because they can finance them, then add on interest. So after all is said and done you are spending triple of what the car is actually worth. If you dont have the money to outright buy a 20+ year old car, just save the money. Besides, a car payment will get in the way of doing what you want to do to it.

These cars are not good for being an only car. Remember they are 20+ years old, things will break when you least need them to. These are also sports cars, NA form, they can be very reliable. TT's can as well, but its how you drive it that make it less reliable.

What's a 'selin transmitter'? My Google-fu is weak and can't find anything useful.

A selin transmitter allows you to add dual intakes, 2 pop chargers, without modding your ECU. TT's it adds something crazy like 30-50 hp, NA's will add 10-15 hp. So each throttle body will have its own intake filter instead of it splitting from one filter.

This can be transferred from a NA engine to a TT engine.
