I have an 07 S with power package (no other upgrades). As I was going about installing a new rear view mirror I ran across this wire:

Its on the driver's side, next to the small side window.

Does anyone know what it is, why its there, or any other pertinent info?

Thanks

Hmmm...I'm not sure. I believe my wife's SL has a small speaker in that area (maybe a tweeter?). Could it be a plug for that? Is the stereo system different in the SL?

Could be the speaker wire for the tweeter in the A pillar. The S would not have the tweeter, didn't know if they would run the wire no matter what model.

The wires that run into the plug are white and tan, if that helps.

The service manual shows no base unit wiring for the tweeters, but for the upgraded units it's just parallel to the door speaker, and the wires for the left tweeter are shown as white and brown. There's also an image which shows the wiring coming up the pillar, not the front. But looking at your picture, if the top of the dash is to the right, then it does look like this connector...

That definately looks like it.

Good to know it could be a little easier to add tweeters to an S.

yeah, the connector (highlighted):

is what I highlighted in the original image.

Sad... I was hoping that I might be able to use that for my mirror.

I got an auto-dimming mirror with home-link so that i don't have to carry a garage door opener. And cause it looks nicer.

where'd you get it if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking for an auto-dimmer rear view like my maxima had.

From this dude here. The post says that they may be used, but I can't tell. It looks brand new to me. More importantly, I bought it Sat night/Sun morning and it got to me on Wednesday, which is pretty stellar.

On a side note, does anyone have a good suggestion on how to get the wires to a happy, powered location? I looked today when I had the car all torn up, but couldn't find an easy route.
