Looking good! Don't envy you having to fix the rust hole...but now is a good time to deal with it. Your gonna love your 5-speed swap. I look forward to the drive to work EVER night. Keep us updated.

Yeah, have a friend with wrecked coupe, so hopefully cut out a patch piece and weld it in. But I suck at welding so may need to recruit someone.

I do plan on driving it more durring spring/summer and keep some miles off of my G35 for going to work. Only thing that sucks is the speed bumps at work.

Cut out a section from friend's coupe, now just need to recurit someone to weld in (I suck at welding). Hopefully in a couple weeks will be back on the road.

Thanks to a friend for bringing the welder and welding.

The car is back together mostly, just have to change the front crank seal and then put wheels on it and test drive.

We cranked it today, so cranked and speedo worked. Need to check the top to see if it works and eventually hard wire the backup lights (and maybe 4th/5th gear for cruise if I can get it working).

Pics:

The sheet metal fix for the battery tray area, wire wheeled, then welded, then sprayed with rust converter/primer.

Interior together:

Passenger fender/hood back on, washer res back on, replaced cracked coolant res, battery back in:

Get off at 3:30 Friday, so hope to remove and readjust the aftermarket wheel hub (turn signal tabs aren't lined up correctly) and then inturn the wheel will need to be readjusted on the quick release.

See about hooking up and mounting the Techtom MDM-100 as well.

Also may try to start removing fan shroud to get to the crank pulley to replace crank seal.

Trying to decide if I want to go ahead and change the FLCAs and RUCAs out. Which would mean an alignment that I can't afford right now.

just a tip on the pilot bushing. all you need is the slide hammer, stick the threads in the hole and slide the hammer at an angle so the threads catch on the bushing.

Didn't get a chance to start on the front crank seal replacement.

Adjusted my steering wheel hub so the turn signals cut off correctly.

And mounted the MDM-100, I'll see if I want to move it sometime after driving with it in this position.

Only issues:

Clutch needs to be bled again.Running rough, think could be vaccum leak.Exhaust leak, probably didn't tighten something enough.

No vaccum lines unattached that I can find. Not sure why its running rough. Going to try to tighten up the exhaust to fix that leak and see if it runs better this weekend. After clutch bleed as well.

Exaust leak at DP, 2 nuts were loose, tightened them. Leak was right at the O2 sensor, maybe that was the running issue. Will test drive again after putting on new clutch slave and bleeding. Old slave was leaking I discovered this morning (picked up new one at AutoZone).

New slave installed, clutch pedal adusted. Really hard to get into 1st gear when stopped. Not sure what's going on.

Only stumbling when cold, after warm seems to run fine. So exhaust leak was the main issue.

My aftermarket alarm is now acting weird. When you hit unlock button, it unlocks then immediately locks back. No clue there.

Its parked, no telling when I'll try to get to it. Apparently clutch pressure plate is bad (brand new exedy OEM replacement).

Alarm issue may have to do with ignition switch harness.

It is an SPW wheel, 350mm size. I also have the 320mm version in my coupe. They are very cheap, but seem good to me.

I'll be taking the Tranny off and looking into the issue within a month or so probably. Just been concentrating on my Coupe, dyno for it next week.

Question... I'm about to undertake this project tomorrow, and have a couple questions for ya. first, did you swap your ECU? i know that it isn't mandatory, and actually has some benefits, such as no RPM cutoff in 5th gear, and no speed limiter.

next, did you replace your lower harness with a manual one? if not, what was your solution to the wiring for the speed sensor? i dont have a lower harness, but do have the necessary sensors w/enough tails on them to splice. can i just do that? if so, are the color the same?

great looking vert, BTW.

thanks in advance.

Kept the AT ecu.Only used a couple connectors from a MT lower harness (reverse lights, top jump). My speed sensor connector wasn't apart of the AT lower harness, so it was there just connected to the MT. Just look at the 5spd swap thread in this section, it'll help.

After investigation the only thing that can be wrong with the clutch is the pressure plate, so going to get a friend's old OEM one and use the same Exedy OEM disc with it, hopefully that works. So probably take the tranny off next weekend and hope to have it running again in 2-3 weeks.

Then time to save for the new top. Probably will be tax return next year though. Just can't go out in the rain until then.

Got it back on jackstands, tranny is off. Just wait on different clutch pressure plate and some help to get the tranny back on.

Realized why I like help usually... thinking I would take the tranny out without removing the shifter, so wouldn't need to drain it. Then halfway into it needed to remove shifter, should've drained it, thought about that as 2qts of gear oil is pouring on me as the tranny falls off the jack.

Tranny back on today.

So OEM pressure plate with Exedy clutch disc. Hope it works.

Just have to get the slave reset (no luck pushing it against the frame rail, so back to the drawing board next weekend).

Then if everything is ok, I'd just need to put the lower and upper shift boots on.

Hopefully 2 running cars next weekend. Though probably need to change the brake pads on the G next weekend, so I'm sure something will go wrong.

The Vert is back on the road.

Shifting is normal and smooth, so it was the brand new exedy pressure plate that was bad (have it if anyone wants it for experimentation or anything before I trash it).

Things to do when time/money allows:
-Install my old set of braided brake lines
-Get someone to look into the alarm (door locks aren't working properly with alarm/keyless)
-New top and installation

Just a bump to say I'm going to try to install my skid plate/undertray Sunday... this one: s13-under-engine-cover-skid-plate-avail ... 09291.html

Think I've had it for like a year and a half, so guess its about time.

Probably go get some hardware including some form of rubber spacers and probably hit it with a coat of paint just to reduce shininess.

Have noticed that cooling could possibly be better (based on the MDM-100 readings), so hoping undertray will help and maybe a cooling panel up top sometime as well.

After I went to lowes to stock up on some bolts/nuts I put the Alum Cooling Panel/Skid Plate on today.

But here's a couple pics, would have taken more, but batteries in Camera died:
