Yeah, 5 speed swaps aren't fun to find the parts. I got lucky and found a trans with 88k on it but I over-payed for it but I needed it, so it's all good. Just don't give up.

Tomorrow instead of going out drinking I think I'm going to start creating a shifter. Maybe cut out the shifter hole bigger. I'll post photos of my progress, maybe someone else will use this as info if they decide to get the same transmission. The drive shaft is going to be tooken to a shop to be extended. Also ill post up my todo list I made up.

6 posts in a row fail.

So you decided to keep this transmission and just make it work? I may be able to find you a bell housing if you'd rather.

Anyways I decided to slow down on my build, moneys not free right? and i got pretty used to no wheels for about 3 months now.

well Im getting the driveshaft extended and balanced at a place that i no the owners for 50 to 75 bucks, going to keep it a two piece tho.

buddies comin sometime this week with oxy setaline (spelling wtf) and with that and my welder we are going to create a shifter that will work. Im cutting 2 inches more forward in the shifter hole in the car as well. Im still going have it come up where it should, cuz i wanna keep the stock look and feel for resale value down the road.

thanks for everyones support!

you could always make a shifter extension with a plate that bolts onto the trans

i drew this up in paint real quick. i think you would need to use heim joints to make it work. and it would probably be backwards shifting (but no one would be ably to steel your car haha)

plate

I was thinking about doing that too but I wasnt sure how a guy would go about doing it. Just not sure if it was possible to shift to like the side. I figured it would go into 3rd and 4th easily but without some second pivit point i dont no about any other gears.

thanks

i think you would need a heim joint on the red line and a solid mount on the shifter. i think it would work. but i dont know for sure. it would be pretty crazy to have to shift in reverse order though. be kinda fun lol

I found a 240sx 5 sp transmission for 100 bucks on kijiji

so this is the way i see it....

100 bucks for the transmission OR 100 bucks for a driveshaft frabcation plus create a shifter.

so as long as the new clutch will work im going to get a car transmission...

any ideas now lol.

Already did. Diff part numbers. Car trans has inch less on the diameter. Thinking is should work .

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

So tonight I just picked up a transmission for 100 bucks. The guy didn't want the motor so a ka24de came with. He was swapping in an Sr . Has 130,000 on it and runs strong. He is also selling me the newer style front bumper. Still the pop up headlights but not the pignose if that makes sense.

I got the car running and drivin tonight! Once I got the correct transmission it was a piece of cake. And I have nico and of course all my buddies who turned a wrench to thank!! Next step is the cruise and backup lights.
