You can imagine what I think of that. More details to follow as I have to calm down first.

Someone dig up the trhead about the Q that sold for big bucks and the craigslist one going for $10k, he's gonna need to fit the lowball settlment.

Very sorry to hear about your loss . I hope you are unhurt and in good health. I just went through a similar ordeal. My previous car was totaled and the insurance company low-balled me all the way. All the reapirs meant nothing...I was unlucky. Now here is some advice:

1. Find as many Q45s for sale and print the ads and make a file to prove to the insuarnce company that the car is worth top $$$. Search the entire country, not just your local state.

2. Gather your receipts and upgrades regardless and if you get a nice person, they may take your hard work, time and money into consideration.

3. If you can get an appraisal backdated before the accident showing a "true and accurate value" of your car as opposed to a lowball book value, then do it and do it right away. This is what I needed to secure a real cheque, unfortunately, I didn't know and I got hammered :.

By the way, you may not want to hear this, but I always believed that things that happen to us in life happen for a reason, even if it seems unfair and even though it hurts so much. Count your blessings that you are still alive and maybe this can be a blessing in disguise. Maybe there is a better car for you in your future and maybe the insurance will give you top dollars to get the new one.

Peace

Sorry it took so long to get back. First off I'm ok!

I found out today that my Q was demolished in a wreck back in 94. Front end collision totalled the car. What I'm so mad about is I got a salvaged title in the mail today from the state of NC.

I had a question about some work done to the Q way back and wrote Infiniti to look into it and sure enough they did. The letter I wrote was done about a year ago and I'll be darned if they didn't dig up everything on the car! Someone did a great job of hiding the truth because the title that has been passed down has been clean...until today.

Apparently the car was totalled and fixed to new by the Greensboro NC Infiniti dealership who "HID" or covered it up. Metal chain guides replaced the plastic ones, new fenders, hood, radiator and much more.

So now I have a salvaged Q, but it runs and quite frankly had me thinking it was "all good." I felt kind of sick when I got both a letter and a new title. Somehow NC found out about this(I guess from whoever was investigating the fraud) and retitled my car.

My car is fine and I am fine, but my world has been violated by fraud and there's nothing I can do about it. Well at least I still have an awesome car and it drives so well with everything that has been done to it. Guess that's enought to keep me smiling through the bad news.

Definitely NOT what I was expecting to hear..... I guess this means you are permanently married to the car..... as no one else will ever buy it.

I thought you had an accident. I'm glad you didn't. Bottom line now is that this car is in your hands for a reason. She was meant to be for you. May she serve you well as you have served her!

No kidding, I was thinking the same thing. A salvage title is no biggie unless you plan on selling the car. Some lady hit my DSM a few years back...while it was parked in front of my house no less. The car was totalled as the cost to repair the vehicle was pretty high. Although, the place where the bumper had been pushed in ended up popping out in a few days(urethane rules!), and I ended up getting the front end straightened with no tracking/drivability issues. I have continued to mod the car, drive it damn near every day and I love it. I could care less that the car has a salvage title b/c I don't plan on selling it. Besides, once one does a great deal of work to the vehicle to bring it to as new/better then new condition, a sale price can never reflect the amount of time and money put into it. Just keep loving the car and it'll treat you well

Now I really have to keep all my receipts in good order in case I ever have to make an insurance claim becuase they always try to snake out of paying up on salvaged cars!

Sorry, no tombstone yet please! I plan to have this car a while. Just a bump to the "clean" paperwork and my ego. Like I said, no way you can tell the car was ever totalled.

Carfax??? Did you run a carfax report on the car before you bought it? If so I would think that you may have a claim against them if it is not too late to make a claim and they certified the car as being clean.

Salvage means nothing in a buyers market. It sucks to get news in such a fasion. If you tried to sell your car to someone unfamiler with the car and the community you would have a hard time unloading it for a fair value. Since you are involved with a true car enthusiast community the "investment"consideration only goes as far as what the condition of the car and what is attached to it. Paper means nothing.

If you were a Floridian, you'd never know it was salvaged.

I cant believe a dealer would do this. Thats so low.

If you have proof anyone, including especially a dealer, did this (the title is prima facie evidence), then with a few depostions or affadavits, you have a slam bang actionable cause.

Get a good contract/consumer deception trial attorney.

This only really hurts me, the more I think about it, if someone wants to get a loan to buy the car from me. As I do more restoring to the car it's value to me will of course go up, but If I ever wanted to sell it at that value the banks are less likely to make a loan on a salvaged car.

The car's owner two owners ago is the one who got ripped and every seccessive owner since. Not much I can do or even want to at this time. I'll eat it and move on. To much involved with pushing punitive action. If it were a more valuable car then perhaps that would be the road to take, but not for a $4,000 Q two owners removed.

I'VE BEEN RIPPED!
