Hey guys, new member here. Just wanted to post how much I love my 2007 G35X. Got a great deal on it, fully loaded (nav + prem) black on black. My wife actually praised the car too, which is rare.
I was just wondering if anyone knows how much of a difference the VDC makes. It seems when its on it lowers the power to the wheels or hesitates when I take off. So now I leave it off unless roads are wet. Is it safe to drive like this? Does it remove power when its on? Thanks!

IMHO, if you don't overdrive your abilities, it's safe to turn it off. But it can save you from your own foolishness.

I turn it off much of the time because it will dump throttle in some situations where you don't want that.

I have my VDC off most the time I drive - unless the roads are wet.

I dont like the intrusion that the VDC has some times. I have had it catch during a hard turn and it almost threw me into the oncoming lane.

Thanks guys! I had the same problem the other day which is what caused me to post here. I was pulling out of work (a slight incline) and I gave it some gas and my car almost stopped in the middle of two lanes. Now I only put it on if its wet on the roads. I love this car though! :)

I usually turn VDC off as well for local driving. I was warned to not do it as the vehicle could get away from me but after playing with it sliding around I am wholly comfortable in it and when it does start to slide it's predictable and controllable....at least in the coupe. I don't play as much in the sedan.

^I do the same, just turn it on when the road conditions are slippery or otherwise unpredictable. More than just "warned" not to do it, I've been lambasted as a sociopath on another forum for remarking on this. Folks are more civil on NICO than in a lot of places.

yep VDC off most of the time, i have gotten really used to how my car handles now. id recommend people find a secluded open place and test the limits of their car so they know what it CAN and CAN NOT do.
