Hey guys i just bought another Z this one being 90' manual trans 2+0 car runs solid with a few hiccups . my previous one was auto... i completely tore up my 2+2 auto before the junkyard came to pick it up so i am extremely familiar with the car and its components...... and i have a couple of questions all help is much appreciated thank you

1. my car has trouble starting up cold in the mornings but later in the day it starts up fine.. i did some research people say it might be the (MAF) i want to check if it is this but i have no idea on how to tackle this

2. I want to relocate the fuse box under the hood .. my question is it as simple as just cutting each wire from the relays and extending them to desired place .. if so what size gauge is the wire .. what size AWG?

3. My Anti-Lock/Abs Light is always on and i wanted to know why is it on ... i was gonna start by replacing the sensors in each of the wheels but i saw that they can be a bit costly so where can i start to fix this problem?

thanks guys :wavey:

get a consult cable and read the MAF sensor values. then read all the other values and check that they are within specifications. I had a throttle body sensor do the same thing. you can also open the main air box and check the filters arnt dirty on the INSIDE. if so you might be able to get away with cleaning the sensor using only MAF safe cleaner and definitely not degreaser or carby cleaner.

you shouldn't go off the wire gauge. that's for house wiring where the cables are a solid standardized wire. In automotive work, the wires are stranded for flexibility and you should go off the amp rating of the wire which will be printed on the packaging. your wiring should exceed the rating of the fuse because the fuses job is to blow WAY before the wiring itself does. just check the fuse rating of each circuit and get wiring to match. generally OEM wires use very thin insulation and the insulation shrinks over time compared to brand new aftermarket wiring so expect the new wire to look fatter.

it's common for people to disable the ABS on performance cars because it interferes with doing burnouts and drifting. if the bearings/knuckle assembly has been modified, which is common on performance cars again, people like to install heavier duty driveline components after snapping an axle or tearing up a wheel bearing, it may not have sensor rings installed. get a consult cable or drop down to a local mechanic and ask them to read your ABS codes. if its just one faulty sensor or wire run it'll give you a good place to start.
