Damn retarded neighbors must have called code enforcement on me for my non running s12... woke up this morning with a bright orange paper GLUED to the windshield saying I have 10 days to move it before they impound and destroy it... what a bunch of f*** oh well, just gotta hide it in the garage for a bit, which means its time to clean up the garage! Looks like it might take a bit longer for your hotpipe Rico, gotta get this crap figured out first...

Just felt like venting because my neighbors are a$$. You can't even tell its not running except the fact that it has expired plates on it

Man that sucks! Sounds a bit like my like my complex managers in the fact that if they catch you working ona car, they'll evict you (yeah let them try).

I had the same thing happen. I had to go to court and I only got a warning. I found out who the people were and made their lives as bad as I could.

If they find the car still there, they can fine you also (ranges from county to county).

You mean if its in the garage (with no windows)? Like if I was to leave the the garage door open one day and they saw the car inside I can still get fined? That would suck if its true!

Anyways, its not really a big deal, its more of a nuisance. I'm in the process of getting the title and once I get that I'll register it. I got the car from an old man who's roof was damaged in last year's hurricanes. His home office took most of the water damage, and the title was accidentally thrown away in the process of cleaning up. But getting a "lost title" renewed is pretty difficult, and its taking a long time. Just gotta hide the car until I get the title back from the DMV.

This is just a pain because it effectively removes my working area (1 car garage) Oh, and its not just my car with the orange sticker warning. There are about 5 other cars on my street alone with out of date plates/not running and they got stickers too. I'm not sure if a disgruntled neighbor called it in, or if some code enforcement officer decided to be a prick and write up the whole block.

You can not have a non-registered car seating in your yard for more than one week. They will record the date they first see it then come back and report it (sticker like you got or court case). The law states you can not have a non-registered car in or on your yard, but what they can not see, they can on write you up for. Zone enforcement makes visits in the morning. I put my car in my garage over a year ago and had no problems.

BTW, they other cars will get you in trouble if you do not get rid of them. They do not care if you have 20 or 1 non-registered car, it is all the same to them.

Thats what I figured... and I got rid of the parts car awhile ago, so the only cars in my driveway (other than the s12) are all registered and legal. Its odd though, the s12 has been in the driveway since October and no one has given me grief over it until now. It faces backwards with the bumper right up against the garage, so unless you look real hard you can't see that the license plate is out of date, which leads me to belive someone called it in... just driving down the road, code enforcement officials wouldn't be able to tell its not running/registered.

Oh well, got most of the garage cleaned out tonight, just have to find a place to put my CA20E I pulled out of the s12. Might just leave it outside in the driveway under a tarp (watch me get in trouble for that too)... anyone want a CA20 block to play with?

hmm...they can't do anything if the car is in your garage, well at least in CA. Here, if its on your driveway, doesn't matter if its running or not, as long as its not on the "public street".

iono if it goes for where you live... but sticking it in the garage SHOULD be ok since its on your property.

lol, its not the fact that the car is broken so much as it doesn't have valid/current plates on it. There's really no way to tell the car doesn't run... I even wash it every few weeks so it looks clean

Someone reported my truck when it was sitting dead in the front of our house (after about a year) so we pushed it to the back, heard nothing since.

I still need to fix it so I can sell it (short version: suspect intake mani failure leaking coolant into oil, have yet to take it apart.. all liquids drained out ages ago)

Yup, Florida is retarded. It is ILLEGAL to have a non-running/non-registered car in your yard.

All I can say is start measuring the height of your neighbors grass and watch them when they walk the dog to see if they let it take a dump in someone else's yard, we can play! I hate people like that, get a life you suburban gestapo-types!

you don't live next door, that's why. I have been known to fire up my chopsaw in the wee hours. My landlord is cool though, he don't care. Crazy old bastard walks around wearing nothing but a towel some times. He says he likes me, that kind of concerns me.

yeah, allthough no emissions or visual testing in Florida makes up for our illegal non-registered car laws we can put whatever we want under the hood, but it has to have insurance and tags!

and I just got the s12 in the garage so hopefully no more issues...

LOL but wait, that is destruction of property. You could get in trouble for that...here is my idea (the golf course had an influence on this one)

Get some good fertilizer and here in about a month and a half, go write some word in their yard with the fertilizer. That way in July when the grass starts browning out real bad, you can have the word A-hole nice and GREEN in their front yard. Don't use too much though, you will burn the grass.

No no no, that is destruction of property. If you use the right amount it wont show up for a little while and then be nice and green. That isn't illegal since nothing is destroyed. You actually helped the grass.
