Thought I would go ahead and post up some pics of my J30 build.

Plans for the car are 475ish whp, Q45 auto trans while also keeping AC/PS. The turbo is a 60mm T4 turbo.

Got the shell for free so its a perfect candidate.

Motor bolts right in with Q45 mounts rotated 180*

Alternator clearance is very tight. I might go back and notch the frame rail for added clearance. May not be necessary but it will make it easier to work on later.

Mega clearance between the oil pan and steering rack

Got the oil return bung welded in

Whipped up some BS manifolds. I absolutely HATE log manifolds but they will do for my goals.

And here is the intercooler Im gonna use along with the 18" sportmax wheels I got for the car.

Cool! Glad to see another Turbo Infiniti being born. Your VH powered J is going to be very fast. How much boost are you planning on running?

I'll be heading down to OKC in a few weeks. It would be great to check out your car.

Sijoko- I plan on running however much it takes to reach my goal. Its a smallish turbo for a V8 so I figure it will take about 8-10psi to get there. Let me know when you come down, Ill be more than happy to show you.

What are you using as far as a drive shaft goes?

J30? Q45? Sections of both?

No it'll be a 1 piece. I have a place here locally that can make me a drive shaft.

Looks like a simple swap so far, no mount fab, no oil pan fab, sweet platform! What's the weight of the J?

Been neglecting this project trying to finish the race car. I have since got the car running pretty good. Motor had good compression across and metal timing chain guides so thats a plus.

I did manage to get a little bit of fab work done however. Gotta love short route piping

What are you doing with regards to the intake upstream of the turbo? Maybe it's just me, but it looks like there is basically no room there.

Thanks guys, I need to get a few more pics. I managed to use a R33 driveshaft I had kicking around. It was perfect in length, the only thing I had to do was make a bracket to bolt the carrier to. Works like a charm, know I just need to get some brakes on this thing

pazer- The picture is a little deceiving, there is enough room to fit filter in there.

Sorry for bringing this post back from the dead but I was just searching and found that you've apparently completed my current dream swap hah. Anyhow, if you're still in need of a filter there are a million odd K&N filter sizes that you don't normally see. I had a very short and squat K&N that looks like it is made for exactly your application, because my turbo to frame clearance was once just like yours (in a different car). It fit perfectly right on a T04S housing, was probably 6" in diameter, 4.0x" opening, and about 2" long.

Anyhow, how is your project coming along? I'm very seriously considering starting one myself in the near future.

Been awhile since I last updated this thread. Finally got the motivation to finish it. Few pics of the downpipe and exhaust. Exhaust is full 3" with magnaflow muffler

Went this route to save room for the AC

Actually got the car on the dyno and ending up making 380whp/420tq before the turbo died. Not a big deal, it was a freebie anyway. The goal is 450whp with the auto.

Its going off for paint this week. Soon as I get the car back I just need to clean up the interior, put the wheels on and slap a new turbo on it
