I bought an 1999 I30t last summer and have nothing but problems with it since.. I have replaced the water pump, knock sensor, 2 O2 sensors, and my crank sensor, I have replaced two pulleys and new belts.. Including just the regular up keep, I am over half of what I owe on this. The thing is still missing and it had been only getting worse. We put the coil packs from my brother's 1996 Maxima in there and it supposedly ran better. Would anyone know if it's just the coil packs that could be throwing it off or could there be more issues than just that?
Thanks!

99 cars have horrid coil packs (nissan ran some trash coil packs that year), it is highly advised on 99 cars to change the coil packs

I'm hoping that's it.. We tried to replace them, I ordered the Nissan replacements through NAPA and half of them don't work with my connectors.. So I'm back to square one pretty much..

remember that the front wont go in the back, and the backs wont go in the front. Also, I (me) highly praise the BWD brand (about $70 each) they can be had at advance auto parts and oreiley's auto parts

I don't remember which brand we got.. My brother works for NAPA, so we got them for a pretty reasonable price.. I'm just glad he's good with Nissans..

Do you have a check engine light? If it is a coil that is causing the problem, you should be getting a cylinder misfire code for whatever cylinder the bad coil is on.

I saw in the other thread you are from Hastings. I'm in Eagan. If you need somebody to take a look at it for you, I could take a look. Am actually working in Prescott this week, so I'll be driving through Hastings a lot this week.

The check engine light does not work.. We have scanned about six times now.. We tried out the coil pack thing by putting my brother's coil packs in my car and it ran fine.. We fixed everything that our mechanic told us was wrong and there is still a misfire. So we are going to stick with the coil pack thing and see where that gets us.. I'm really torn between selling this car or just keeping it because we have put so much money into it

The check engine light doesn't work or you aren't getting any codes? If the bulb is burned out on the light, you'll still be getting codes when you scan it.

If you aren't getting any codes, how do you know it is misfiring? What exactly is the car doing? It is possible you may think it is misifing but it is something else entirely. If it is misfiring at all, you will get a misfire code.

There's an obvious miss in the engine, even in neutral you can feel the miss.. It starts missing when the engine is warmed up, the check engine light doesn't work, the last code we got was the crankshaft sensor and an O2 sensor. We took care of those issues. So, my brother went on here and someone told my year is known to have bad coil packs, so that's why we tried the experiment with my brother's coil packs. Apparently it worked, so that's the project we are tackling now. I am hoping this is it..

Cool! Let us know when you get the rest of the new coil packs on there.

After buying three sets of coil packs, we found ones that clip into my car!! The weirdest part was that one set fit into my brother's 1996 Maxima, and his clipped into mine. The car still runs a little rough, but there is no more miss, most likely, he just needs a tune up now. Crossing the fingers that this is it
