Yeah you are not the only one who had issues with Jsp saying they fixed something they didn't. Another guy had to rebuild the head on an engine they replaced a previously bad engine with.

Here it is with the upper pipe off

Here is my new toy looking through the upper pipe. This is quite ridged scope on here so it was really hard to make that bend at the end.

The rear turbine outlet pipe was not terribly hard to get off from under and over the car. I had to make some custom wrenches and stuff but it works.

Oh wow. Yeah that is pretty shady and dishonest of him. I can't believe he wouldn't know it had a missing wheel. He at minimum would have driven it to make sure it ran ok after the engine swap. How is the compression? I wonder how high the boost was over stock to make that ceramic wheel disintegrate? Hopefully the rest of the car is ok. I would think with the intercooler damage there would be some boost leak though.

Yeah I am going to order a new intercooler. I am researching them now. I am also changing all fluids. $$$$ I guess I am going to rebuild the turbos I have with steel wheels and then i will just save up a tad more to do what I want later this year. it all sucks but at the same time it is making me take car of things that I might have let go had it ran well.

That is a good attitude to have with these cars bring 25 years old. I just upgrade things when they break too since it's a good excuse.

For stock turbo rebuild with steel turbines, I believe you can get an eBay kit from Australia for ~$300 shipped. I spoke to a local shop in Houston called 3rd Coast Turbo, and they charge $200 per turbo rebuild if you provide materials.

Man I'm sorry you are having to deal with this :(
Maybe you can go with some GT28 since you have to take off everything :dblthumb:

How do those compare to the gt2859-9? Less power but slightly less turbo lag?

I think with the big picture of a build it depends on what your going for fast response or more power availability. From what I have read a single GT2859-9 has a HP rating of 150-310 but you will have better response but you run the chance of not being able to produce power you may want later. As for the GT2860R(3) has a HP rating of 250-360 and you can add a cam and tune to some degree too help with the bottom end power. I started looking at the 2860 because is has the ability to get to 500 WHP and not be maxed out.

I looked up that part number "466089-5004" and it is not listed on Garrett's site. I googled it and the other retailers had the same part number listed even the same description. hmm seems to be the same as far as specs go

Does the GT2860R(3) have much lag? I'm looking for something that will hopefully get up to somewhere around 500 whp but also be streetable. I'm mostly wanting to have power for the street vs the dragstrip. If that means I can only get 450 whp then that would be better I guess. Just don't want to have to be going too fast on public roads to really feel the power. Does it have as much lag as like a GT2860-5?

I honestly don't think the average Joe Is going to be able to tell a whole lot between the two. By design the 2860-5 will spool faster and give you what you are looking for i think. To be honest I would call Garrett and try to make a friend/contact and ask what would be ideal for what you are looking for.

For me Im stuck at 2 GT2860R(3) or 1 GTX3582R 82mm 56 trim .70AR

Just learned that "R34-N1 turbos. The Nissan partnumber is 14411-AA401. Garrett started manufacturing them last year too. The Garrett partnumber is 707160-7." Food for thought

Here is another quick and easy solution.
http://skylineownersusa.com/forums/show ... hp?t=32635
Or if you don't have access here is the direct quote. And why don't you have access? :squint:

Matched pair of pristine RB26 14411-RR581 Nismo GT Le Mans steel bladed turbo's with adjustable wastegates. Minimal shaft play, 10/10 condition!

These turbos left my RB26 in perfect running condition, just upgrading to GT2860R-5's. The engine has been meticulously maintained and came straight from my R32 Skyline GTR. Its not an imported, used and abused swap. Car ran all but 3 months of its life with the boost restrictor still in the line.
Comes with the wastegates, but unattached for easier shipping. Comes with most the studs, removed two due to damaged threads. Does not come water lines, oil lines, water fittings or oil fittings.

Here is a direct comparison for the Nismo, N1 and Nismo La Mans turbochargers

$860 shipped anywhere in the lower 48

I will get back to you soon. I am taking mine to a local shop today once I get them out to see what the cost might be to rebuild. If it is not much more I may go with you. Will I be able to run these with out a tune needed right away? I know I need to tune anyway because of the gas rating but for now I will be putting 110 in it for the time being. Granted it is not running right now. I still have to look up my tuning options. baby steps

P.S. I did not have access. Im sorry  I registered today and will have to scour the site later.

Well i got the turbos off in about 5 hours. I took them to http://www.theboostlab.com/ . I like these guys already. first thing they did was ask what car then looked at the turbo got the part number and called Garrett. Garrett said "hmm I will have to do some research. I will e-mail you when I get info next week." I guess I will start to clean any and everything I can in the mean time.

No sir have not looked to hard. I want a stock one preferably. I just about got everything I want/need.
I should hear back from Boost lab tomorrow about the condition of the turbo housings. see how much it is to rebuild to the gt2860r-5 or 7(not sure yet) spec if possible.
I am taking to a tuner in the local area to see what he likes to tune on and I will probably go with what they like.
Still need to find a good fuel pump that wont break the bank! lol
Here is what I have piling up in the garage:

Tomei extreme outlet pipe
FIC 850cc injectors
F/R diff oil: 75w90 redline
trans oil: Nissan Matic-d
gear box oil: heavy shockproof
engine oil: Rotella t6
Bosh oil filter
new coolant
new power steering fluid
cometic exhaust manifold gasket
New rear diff seal (that should be a fun one by the looks of it)
Every led lights for gauges
Low beam and high beam HID kit because I wanted to H3c and H3

Still need:

Fuel pump
EMS
Turbo gasket kit
all new turbo back exhaust gaskets as all of mine were leaking come to find out.
power steering hose from the pump to the reservoir

Thinking about getting a new fuel rail and pressure regulator but from what I have read it is not really necessary.

I have not looked at the crank yet to see whether it is the narrow or not. I'm hoping Jun slapped a new bottom end on it from a later model.

And to think its only been a week lmao

I'm not sure if this may save you some $ but I know someone who has these on his GT-R, he told me they fit and work great.

I tend to stay away from eBay on Items like this. I have had a few bad experiences so I normally now just spend the money. Thanks though

M35Squirrel,

I decided to just go with 2 new GT2860R-5. I costs a bit more but I'm just going to do it how I intended on doing it later now.

Now on the turbo news I guess Garrett has changed the bearings in the GT2860R's and it is now a new part number. The old 707160-5 is no longer being made I was told and any you find on line is just residue working threw the system. The new number is not being marketed yet. It has a steel bearing casing with ceramic bearings. I slap some pictures up tomorrow when they get delivered to Boost lab in Tampa and I pick them up.

Do they have benefits over the older version?

I had to look it up but all I can tell so far there is much less friction and resistance. That makes it faster to spool. Just search ceramic vs steel bearings. There is a video on You tube.

I might have to go with those then since I wanted the more power potential of the - 5 but liked the decreased lag of the - 9. How much were they? I'd definitely be interested in hearing what your experience is with them too once you get them installed.
