okay so this is the story. i was driving on the 57noth giving a ride to my grandma to my aunts house when a California highway patrol pulls up behind me. for some reason i already had a feeling i was going to get pulled over. i was right, he turn on his lights and so i pulled over. he walked up to my window and said "you know why i pulled you over sir?" i replied "no"he said "your tail lights are tinted" then asked for license, registration and insurance. so while he went back to his car my grandma was flipping out, thinking i was going to get arrested and all this stuff. so when he walks back to the car my grandma just straight out says in Spanish "please don't give him a ticket, he was just giving me a ride to my daughters house, shes very sick.(which was a lie) please sir no ticket" the cop just looks at her all weird then replays in Spanish "hes getting a ticket" LOL. anyway so he walks back to his cop car and writes me a ticket and when he came back he said "im giving you a fixit ticket." so i got a fix it ticket and that was that.

cant believe i got a ticket for having my tail lights tinted. wow don't cops have better things to do than to pull over people for having there tail lights tinted?

California man, You should know better. I only got the 60% so you can still see some red. No problems here in SoCal!

i dont mean to be a d!ck but what did you expect when your tails are tinted like that they WILL pull you over. Its like getting 5% like the one kid said its all luck. I get outta tickets all the time BUT thats bc my dads a cop BUT ive had times where i was supposed to get a ticket. I had a guy write me one for instead of bllowing a stop sign it was for a seatbelt $108. I told him i dont have a current address at school bc im leaving in 3 days and dont have the money now. He ripped it up all pissy like.

Just find a shop that will say you got them fixed and bring it to court and pay the fine. Thats all.

When i redo my stock paint i will do what you have but the gtr style that way they cant b**** bc they can see your brakes

Before anything please answer this. What does the ticket say your offense was word for word ???

My tails are just as dark as yours and I got pulled over for it. The campus officer (I was right next to the HS I graduated from a couple years ago) even came out and told the ticketing officer I was a good kid and don't normally get in trouble Anyways she wrote me a ticket and I looked at what it said "Tail lights are too dark"

The thing is, my tail lights aren't too dark, my brake lights are plainly visible from 200ft or more which is the law on brightness. They are not reflective and therefore illegal but I got the ticket written off no problem when I went down to the station telling them they are not too dark.

That is lucky, maybe that's what I should be saying from now on hahaa.

I'm so nervous to being pulled over now, I just realized my insurance card expired in April and it's already the end of July. My dad should have the card but I just haven't gotten it from him.

They blend in a little too much, maybe that's the issue.

'cmon man, seriously? I mean you live in Cali, not Nebraska, what do you expect? If cops are popping people for swaps of course you're getting nailed for taillights.

Considering CA is not a no-fault state, if someone rear-ends you (even though *they* are normally responsible for maintaining control of their vehicle), I would imagine they have every right to pursue damages from you.

Don't get me wrong, car is 'smokin, but not worth it IMO. :shrug

There is some red that bleeds through my lights as well.Do you think you will be able to get it written off or did the cop put down that your lights are not reflective ???
