I'm been searching the archives and only speakers in the doors threads are poppin up. I thought I stumbled across it before on this page but oh well here goes.

Driver side door, won't close unless you damn near rip the handle off from the inside. it lines up correctly, the door isn't sagging, but it doesn't pull all the way closed without extreme effort.

any pointers on how to adjust it?

thanks.

EDIT: i forgot to mention that the door actually catches, but almost as if you just let the door close on its one and it only partly closes, you can't pull it back open without lifting the door handle...

My door is exactly the same. Anyone have any suggestions? The Nissan tech guy told me to replace the door hinges, but for some reason that doesn't seem to be the problem.

it's probably the hinges. as the door is sagging and you just don't know it. expensive job on infiniti's.

i too had this same problemn!! check the hook that the door mechanism hooks to when it closes !! there should be a small plastic ring thing on the bar the door locks on to!! it rolls when the door shuts an it holds the door snugly shut! if there is no plastic on that little latch hook, then try putting some electrical tape around it, a few wraps, and then try shutting the door it should shut ok, but will be hard to open since the tape cant rolljon

let me know if that was it !

this can be caused from opening the door to much when the car is jacked up on one side. For example if you are jackin up to take off your front driver tire and you open and close your driver side dooor to much, it can cause some misalignment w/ the hinges etc..

I have had same problem before but fixed it. Apparently, the plastic ring on the anchor is old and broken. Just go to any junk yard and get the anchor part from any nissan car , i got mine from rear door of 87 nissan maxima, make sure the plastic part not broken. U need a big phillip screw driver because the 2 bolts holding the anchor are very hard to take out. good luck.

Does it make a difference if its cold or not? I had the same problem on my 87 maxima about a year ago, it was due to the cold, one night it got so bad that the door wouldnt close at all, so i took a blow dryer and some ZEP 2000 to it and that fixed it
