I keep reading about people whose cars won't beep and stuff but I don't think this is the same problem, I'm super sorry if it is but I just need to ask...

For the first few months I had my car, if I turned it off and got out and closed all doors (with doors still unlocked) after about 15seconds my alarm would activate (not as if it was getting broken into, just as if I locked my car). However my doors would still be unlocked. So when I would go to get back in my car, the alarm would go off and I'd like panic to disengage the alarm.

A few months go by and I realize that it stopped doing that and I was stoked I didn't have to worry about unlocking my car every time I wanted to get in (If I was hanging out right outside my car I wouldn't lock it).

Now a few days ago, after almost a year of this no self locking business it starts doing it again. It bugs the hell out of me because I get tired of closing my door, then hearing the alarm beep, then locking my car (just so I don't accidently set off the alarm), then going back to my car a few minutes later and having to unlock it again. It just becomes a hassle...

If any of you have any information on this I'd love to hear it,thanks in advance, and once again sorry if this was covered I will continue searching old threads

The behavior that you described is indicative to a passive alarm system; which I don't think our cars have or are capable of. I've never had a problem with mine so far (knock on wood)

So say you have your doors unlocked and walk out of the car, you close the doors. Does the alarm notify you of activation or does your alarm just stay off until you push lock ???

It could be automatically door lock feature. You will lose this feature if you reset your ECU.

The thing is, the doors do not lock. It's just the alarm that is engaged after a few seconds. The doors remain unlocked which is why this is a hassle (I forget the alarm is on and I open the door)

Did you install any aftermarket alarm ? You should take your car back to the dealer and have them check up.

Ya when I got the car they added a 2way alarm pager w/ 1mi radius. Do you think that would be the problem ??? I'll check through the pagers manual and see if there is any note about this, thanks much

Oh and Nissan_Luver, I actually called up ghostbusters before posting this thread because I thought the same exact thing. They said were booked for the next few months though, so that is still a possibility

I've found that the buttons on the fob are too sensitive. If I keep my fob in my pants pocket it can activate a button if I lean on something or even if I bend down because the folds of the pants pocket can set it off. My alarm would go off a lot if I forgot it was in my pocket and was doing yard work. After it reset my alarm one day I decided to keep it in my breast pocket whenever possible and since then no problems.

Ya the buttons are sensitive but this has nothing to do with that.

This happens EVERY time my door is shut for about 15seconds after the car is turned off and the door is opened. I don't have to move or anything, and it's not the buttons on my pager alarm either because that doesn't touch anything

btw, thanks for all the help and suggestions so far, I'm still trying to figure out how to disarm this but the manual for my pager is at my mother's house and I don't go over there too often.
